Simple Birthday Cards

Goodness, I've been gone for a long time! Sorry about that, it got a little crazy here. Bret contracted Covid from work. Was sent home to work and to get tested, we didn't realize yet he had Covid. He test and it was positive. So he had to work from home for 2 weeks. Everyone was worried about me, but I wasn't. I just had a peace about it plus I was fully vaccinated for over 2 months so I felt I was protected. And I was. 10 out of 12 employees in his department got Covid. Yikes! His boss had no symptoms and that is where they think the spread really came from. I mean, if you have no symptoms how would you know?! Bret faired well, he only had some minor symptoms thankfully. He lost his smell and taste on certain things for about half a day. Other than that, he felt fine. But then when he was outside with the dogs walking back the yard, he would get out of breath easily. That has finally gone and he is good. Then we started laying landscaping fabric down. Got someone to cut the bushes and the 3 guys spread the mulch. I helped Bret haul 3 wheel barrels of left over mulch to the back of the garage. I didn't do as much work as the guys did, but I was exhausted. Plus I sprayed for weeds several times. We are still filling in with mulch in less filled in areas, hanging lights around the pool and just working outside. Oh and mowing, lots of mowing I have been doing. Then my back locked up on me, so I'm trying to take it easy so that can heal up. Bret said it is from doing to much, maybe....But he did the most of the work! I'm getting to be a candy butt! lol

But I'm back with a couple of Cricut birthday cards. I needed some quick ones as we were so busy, so Cricut to the rescue. I hope to be back to commenting regularly better, but outside chores are still calling, so I will do my best.  Here are my simple but I think cute Cricut cards:

I colored the flames on this card with my Ziggies/Arteza Real Brush Pens The cut out flames are black because I chose to do a black panel behind. Three of the candles are drawn on with a pen by the Cricut Joy and it wrote the sentiment as well for me. Love the black and white with the touch of color.

This cute lama card was for Dwayne's uncle. I just thought it was funny and thought he
would get a kick out of it. He did.

Well that is it for me. I hope you enjoy these simple little cards. I hope to post a bit more now, we will see how it goes. Life does get in the way doesn't it?!! Plus it is summer and the dogs want to be outside all the time. So I take them out often and play ball with them. Anyway, thanks for stopping by and I hope to be by to see you too. You guys are always so patient with my sporadic posting and commenting.  I appreciate that!

What fabulous cards Brenda - love them both!! Simple, but they pack a punch!
Yes, life can get in the way, especially during the 'growing season', but it's better to be outside, I always say :)
Stay safe

Hi Brenda, it's great to see you posting again and know you and your son have gotten through the virus scare with no serious injuries. It sounds like so much work to do outside, but I'm sure it's worth all the effort once it's done. I just love the birthday candle card, what a cool look with just the color on the flames! Love that llama card too, how fun is that! Do take care of yourself and your back and I hope you can soon just relax and enjoy your summer. I've turned into a candy butt too with nerve damage in one hand, a sore foot and shoulder and can't wait to wake up tomorrow to see what comes next! LOL I'm still walking so it's all good :) Hugs

Two cute cards and fast and easy is the way to go when things get busy. Daisy goes in and out all day long and lays down in the grass until she gets so hot, then back in she comes. I hope your back is feeling better and I'm so glad that's all Bret had in the way of symptoms. It is so nice to be outside and you are getting your share for sure.

Hi Brenda,
oh my word you must have been so worried I am glad Bret didn't get it so bad and you were clear of anything.
Not good news about the back though as a back sufferer I can sympathise.
You sound like you gave it a lots of work so no wonder it gave up on you.
I do so hope you are out of pain now.
Love both your cards they are fab and such good and wonderful designs.
Love how you have coloured the flames on the candles.
Lots of crafty love and gentle hugs from my house to yours. Jenny L.

Soooooo good to see you back posting Brenda, I have missed your makes.
Your candle card is so stylish and beautiful, a wonderful card Brenda with just a splash of colour. Your Llama card made me chuckle, great background and Llama, I'm sure Uncle will enjoy it.
Sorry to hear your back went again. I'm not surprised with all that work. I'm also happy to hear that Bret is recovered. What a lot of infections in one small space.

Thanks for your lovely comments, they are so appreciated.

First of all, I'm sorry to hear that your back froze up on you, sweetie, and I hope it is already feeling better. From your description of what you guys have been doing, I have to agree with Bret that you overdid things. Second, I'm sorry he got Covid, but relieved that he didn't have a bad case and that you didn't get it. And, finally, I love your cards! That design with the black and white graphic candles with pops of flame is a dynamite birthday card and the llama design for Dwayne's uncle is a hoot!! Good to see you back online! Hugs, Auntie
