A Macaron Birthday

Hello Crafty Friends, I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying summer. Boy summer is flying by at warp speed though! Why does summer fly by so fast, but winter drags by? Well, lets not think about winter! That will be here soon enough I'm afraid.

I have a birthday card that I made with a stamp set a friend gifted me with. Thank you sweet friend, you know who you are! I've had it for quite a while and just now used it, so it is a NBUS set! I need to play with it a bit more as it has a cake pop in it too. Have you ever had a macaron?? I never have had one, so have no clue as to what they taste like. It was fun to color even though I'm not great at coloring with alcohol markers, I do enjoy doing it. I enjoy coloring using markers or colored pencils, it's so relaxing to me. I had a panel of smooshed DI background in my stash, so used it to cut a frame for my macaron's to sit in. I wished I would have cut the frame in white and placed the macarons on the smooshed panel instead, but I didn't. I stacked my macaron by using a stamped cut out mask, which I rarely do...so I was pretty pleased with my stack of macarons! Embossed a background and stamped my sentiment. It is what it is. My mojo hasn't been great, but then again, it never was all that great to begin with! Still a cute card for me and I am decently pleased with it.

I am behind with commenting once again, summer is always a busy time between mowing, getting out and about and taking Savannah out to play ball several times a day and watching Bret's dogs when he has business trips. Today is too hot to go out and play ball and Savannah is not a happy camper. She is relentless about going out! But I am starting to make my way around slowly but surely. As always thank you for taking time from your busy life to visit me! I enjoy when you stop, you make my day! Hopefully I will be by to see you soon too.

Crafty hugs,

Don't question even one of your design decisions, Brenda! These darling macarons are so beautifully masked and colored - I can taste those flavors! I prefer coconut macaroons over macarons - a totally different cookie!

This is one cute and colorful birthday card, and I love the simple design that puts all the focus on those yummy looking cookies! Love the smooshed frame of summery colors and especially how you colored the macaroons! I don't believe I've ever tasted one either now that you mention it! So glad you're getting out and about a little better these days and up to making cards. My cough is finally done, but 3 days ago my foot suddenly swelled up and I can barely put weight on it. It's either a spider bite or a reaction to the antibiotic I was taking - not sure which one, but it has me incapacitated all over again.......sigh. Wishing you a peaceful July 4th celebration. I too will be sitting inside where it's cool. I've seen enough fireworks in my lifetime that I won't miss being able to go outside and see them. I'll watch from TV :) Have a great weekend and take good care!

Hi Brenda, this is wonderful and simply yummy card, love the colour mix and the embossing so very lovely. I have tasted a macaron, but I don't remember what it tasted like, I know the bakeries have many beautiful colours to choose from. The French shops were full of colour with them, when we visited MANY years ago.
Have a wonderful 4th July, as for Summer, we had 3 days of heat when we were away a couple of weeks ago, since then we have had the heating on once and are living in cardigans and jumpers around the house. Not like June or July for that case. Roll on Summer?

Nicely done. Loved macaroons growing up. Unfortunately I am now pre-diabetic so the sugar is a no-no. Love the card.

Hugs and blessings,

You did a great job with the masking on this sweet card (sorry - I couldn't resist!), Brenda. I always love it if I have a ready-made element when I come to put a card together and the one you had was perfect for the colours you chose. I have had macarons and they are lovely but you definitely need a sweet tooth to enjoy them lol!
Take care.

Super card, Brenda. Your stacked macaroons look good enough to eat! I haven’t had a macaroon for a long time, but I remember them being very sweet. A few months ago I bought a Macaroon recipe book in a charity shop…. I must get round to having a go at making some soon. xx

These look so good and I've never had one. The colors are just gorgeous and I like that embossed background. The black really sets it off.

Lovely card Brenda. I’m very fond of macarons- very yummy! I’m catching up on my commenting today as I’m very behind and it’s too hot here to do much else. The trouble is we’re not used to the heat here - they’re forecasting 38C (100F) tomorrow.
