Twofer Challenge

Hello crafty friends, three times posting-unheard of anymore with me, yet here I am. Wanting to play in the Twofer Challenge. I have to say this one stumped me and I went in different directions a few times before I ended up here. I have learned I am not a watercolourer! I keep trying, but get less than stellar results. I need to take a trip and have Bonnie or Loll teach me because I'm terrible at it. I know it, so I can say it. I keep trying though. These two watercolour cards are ok, not great, but ok. Ok enough that I didn't throw them out. If you haven't guessed, the prompt was "Fruit". I went with apples as you can see. Using apples as a border and stacked in a tin. This one took me out of my comfort zone for sure but most of the twofer challenges do cause I don't think well on demand. lol On my first card, I tried to make my tin container look rusty. Didn't quite achieve that, but will take it. Anyway, this is as good as it gets with me and watercolouring.

Thanks for taking the time from your busy schedule and visiting with me a spell. I sure appreciate you all very much. If I haven't been by to comment, please know I will be by soon.

Crafty Hugs,

Card Recipe:
Paper Tre Ink - Vintage Picnic for my images and the "wish you well" sentiment
Strathmore Mixed Media Paper - Thanks Loll for tipping me off on this paper
Neat & Tangled - sentiment on second card, not sure of the name of the stamp set-need to look that up! It has pretty "sectional" leaves.
Zig Real Brush Pens - Deep Red, Brown, Green Gray
Arteza Real Brush Pens - they don't have colors or numbers on them, but used a red, green, blue.
Versa Fine black ink

I think your twofer looks great with your water colored apples! We all work at our own pace, and some excel with certain techniques while others excel with something else. You're too hard on yourself, because I think both cards look wonderful, and how clever of you to create the frame with the apples! I've been thinking and thinking and STILL haven't come up with an idea for a twofer using fruit! LOL Great job on these and welcome back to blogging :)

Oh Brenda, this is fabulous!!! Love the two ways you used the apples and I really like your watercoloring!!! Don't say you can't do it because you just die. The container for the apples on that first card looks so realistic! LOVE!

I think you are being too critical of yourself, Brenda, both your cards are beautiful. A clever way to use the apples for two different designs. xx

You sure are on a creative roll! Love the way you colored the basket and the lovely sentiments you used on these. I need to produce as fast as you do!

Tsk, tsk, you know I don't like it when you are unnecessarily hard on yourself, Brenda! The criticism is just not warranted for your watercoloring and you NAILED the rusty look on that tin! I also love the sky. And using your apples as a pleasing frame around your second design was inspired! I'm so used to seeing flowers stamped and watercolored for a frame, but I have to say, I love the look of the pretty red apples!! Thank you so much for playing in Twofer Card Challenge #24! Hugs, Darnell

I think they're both wonderful and quite charming! The wash of soft blue behind the basket is perfect and the apples make a terrific border!

Wow Brenda these are amazing - loving the rusty tin, and the border is such a unique use of the apple stamp! I am in awe.

Oh stop it now! Silly girl! Your watercoloring looks just right to me. You've created a perfect sky, and a lovely lawn for your rusty tin full of apples to sit upon. You've hit the mark, girl. Trust me. It's good. Not just ok, but good. You should see the watercoloring I did last night...good thing I binned it! Yours is a great get-well card. And your apple border is divine. When I saw it in the gallery, I couldn't wait to come and see a larger version of it. Gorgeous card, Brenda. Two gorgeous cards. Thank you so very much for joining us at The Twofer Challenge. xoxo Bev

Well I don't care what you say, missy... these are both darling, and extraordinarily, beautifully!!! water colored!!
Just love the look of a few of those apples in your [totally spot on] rusty tin is so adorable. Using them to frame your sweet sentiment is genius!
Brenda, these have just flown right to the top of my list of favorites in your card collection! Now go paint more... Yellow Delicious, Granny Smith green, are just a few that would be perfect models! xoxo

These are two great cards, you have really used your thinking cap. The apple frame is so clever and you aged that tin beautifully. It looks so rustic. You have been a busy gal since I was here last and I love the cards you've made. I think watercolor just does it's own thing as far as shading and mixing so we just need to go with the flow.

First of all, come on down and we can watercolor as much as you want. It takes a while and a lot of learning what not to do before you can like what's going on. As far as I can see, you are there! Your basket of apples is wonderful! Love the watercoloring! What a great idea to use the apple stamp to make a border! Everything is lined up so perfectly!

Your twofers are fabulous, Brenda. I am not good at water coloring, but yours really rocks. And your use of stamps is so clever. Great job!

Both cards are wonderful Brenda and I too love your water colouring. Great design layouts and the rust on the bucket sure looks rusty to me and I love how you used the apples to frame the second card x. I too am learning to water colour and it is not easy x

What a super twofer, Brenda! Those apples make such a great frame for those lovely sentiments ... and your watercolouring adds such depth and dimension to them (so I don't know how you can say you get less than stellar results!). Equally, for your tin of apples ... great water colouring ... the 'rust' you created is really clever! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Twofer! Hugs, Anita :)

Hi Brenda. You are too hard on yourself, my sweet friend!! Your watercolouring of these two cards is fantastic. I really love the basket of apples. Great shading on the apples, and the basket really does look rusty. The watercolour wash in the background is perfection!! Seriously, you don't need any help with watercolouring, but you are welcome to visit me anytime and we will have fun playing! And your second card is so sweet with the apple border. The sentiment is just perfect for your design! Great work Brenda!! xx
