CAS Mix Up Challenge

Hello my crafty friends, I hope you all have been able to stay pretty cool. It's been a hot one here. Sometimes we have hot summers, sometimes not. Sometimes it swings back and forth. This year it seems to be swinging back and forth. So we've had about two weeks of extreme heat, but a cold front is coming in tomorrow afternoon or evening and we will be back to beautiful low humidity and temp days. For a few days anyway. lol So stay cool everyone!! Cause I know some live where it is hot and humid all the time.

Well I have a sad attempt at playing along with CAS Mix Up Card Challenge in which Bonnie (who chose the challenge theme) has asked for those playing to color their die cuts. You have to add stamping and one other mix media element. There are so many to chose from on the side of the blog. I die cut my dies out of water color paper, a gift from a sweet and very talented blogger. Used my Zig's and one Arteza to color by putting down color on something slick and picking up the color with my water brush. Didn't care for this water color paper, but could be user error too! But the colors just didn't want to blend well and forget putting down the color directly to the paper and then blending, cause it wouldn't blend. But like I said, could be user error. Cause I'm not the best water colorer! I stamped my little sentiment and also used the Tim Holtz blender brushes to blend some ink on the sky and some sun glow. Of course I didn't plan well on that and decided to do it after I had my flowers glued down. Duh to me! But I looks ok anyway. Or as good as it can anyway. Much more vivid in person, but still soft. Added grass by flicking up with my two colors of green Zig's/Arteza's full strength.  Anyway I think I met the challenge rules. I hope I did anyway!  I have to say my card is going to look sad compared to everyone else's and the design team's cards. lol I will keep trying though, one day maybe.....or maybe I just need to rub elbows with some of these talented ladies!  Ok enough chatter, all my supplies will be listed below in the recipe section.

This is how I'm staying cool! Especially after mowing.

Or playing Frisbee with Savannah! We can't play to long in this heat though. She gets very hot and won't stop playing unless you make her or she collapses. We do this anywhere from 3 to 5 times a day weather permitting.

As always I thank you for stopping by for a spell. I know it's hot, but the pool is open and very refreshing! Hope you will stop by again soon. As always, your comments bring such sunshine into my life!

Crafty hugs,

Card Recipe:
Kah-I-Noor Bristol Vellum - anyone use this??? I like the whiteness of it, but not the way it works.
AliExpress - Daisies Die
Maymay Made It "From All of Us" - sentiment
Verafine Black Onyx ink-sentiment and the dots on the daisies with a stylus
Fossilized amber and broken china Distress Oxide inks
Zigs: #50 Yellow, #64 Oatmeal, #45 Pale Green, #41 Light Green
Arteza: They don't have color numbers or  names, it was an orange color.

I think your card is delightful and well done. YOur watercoloring looks very fine to me (but as you know I'm watercolor challenged myself!) The grass looks very realistic and I love how you've colored those pretty yellow flowers. The frame really sets off the floral scene. Pool looks very inviting, and nice & clean! Your lawn is looking great too! Take care, & hope the cool front arrives. We could use a cool front too! TFS & Happy wkend. Hugs

You are much to hard on yourself, Brenda. Your CAS pretty colored die cut flower design is so refreshing and perfect for a hot Summer day. TFS and so glad it was cool enough for you to play along with us at CAS Mix Up. I hear Savanna panting and eager for more frisbie playing. Hugs...stay cool.

Lovely card Brenda - don't be so hard on yourself!! Your place looks fabulous, as does your pool. If you want some 'cool', do you think we could swap and even up the temperatures a bit??

Your card turned out SO PRETTY! I love those delicate flowers with the lightly colored sky and especially like how you created the grass! Awesome for sure! Love the pic of your gorgeous pool and you deserve to cool off there after all the mowing you do! Gotta love that beautiful Savannah too and how she loves to play! She sure is one fabulous dog :)

Your card is pretty! It has been hot here also. I try to stay indoors as much as possible. We have a pool also, but I have not gotten in it yet. I am not a water person, but the grandkids and hubby has been enjoying it.
Have a great day!

Ah, lovely card, Brenda, such pretty soft tones so nice and restful and skilfully done I think, even if you were out of your comfort zone you pulled it off! I wonder if the paper blends better on the other side, sometimes that can be the case?? Depending on type as there are so many different varieties!!!
And doesn’t that pool look inviting too!? Handsome Savannah, look of acceptance and happiness there.
Hugs, Shaz.x

Your flowers are beautiful, Brenda! You should pat yourself on the back! Love the contrast between the soft colors of the flowers and the brighter green of the grass! The sponging adds another wonderful detail! Thanks so much for sharing this with us at CAS Mix Up! Enjoy that pool!

Your card is so lovely, brenda, and so softly coloured! It sounds like you might have hot pressed watercolour paper, but either way, have you tried wetting the paper first and then painting? Watercolouring is a try this and try that technique until you know your style. :) your pool looks very refreshing and savannah looks like she wants to play; she's so beautiful.

It is not easy to combine stamping, the technique and keeping it CAS and you've done it perfectly. Thank you for joining in the fun challenge at CAS Mix Up Brenda x. Thank you too for sharing the photos of the enticing pool and your wonderful dog, Savannah x.

Your daisies are just charming, Brenda ... and that soft, dreamy background puts me in mind of lazy, hazy days of summer ... so pretty! The pool looks so tempting ... frisbee would be fun with Savannah ... as long as a dip came afterwards! Hugs, Anita :)

Hi Brenda,
what a very wonderful card and the flowers look brilliant.
Such great colours and colouring.
Love the flicked grass too.
Oh my word that pool looks inviting as we are melting in the UK at the mo and our gardens are so thirsty.
Savanah is enjoying herself.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

Your watercolored die cut stems are just lovely growing in your little grassy garden! - I do find that different watercolor papers give different results as well as different brands of pens! - but your flowers are just beautiful! Your pool looks so refreshing - what a great place to cool off!! thanks so much for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up!

Love your outdoor pool too! It looks the perfect place for relaxing and cooling down!

Hope all is good with you.

Thank you for your lovely comment. Mum is doing well thank you. We had a couple of hospital appointments where they altered and added to her medication and it is taking her a little getting used to it.. .. but we will get there!

Happy weekend.

Hi My friend, The pool looks very refreshing. Your card is beautiful.
I have done that many times with the sentiment- no one really notices if we don't tell them.

Oh Brenda, you need to silence your inner critic! Your card is so soft and pretty and your freehand grass is just fabulous. Those die cut flowers are lovely and I really like how you framed them with the stitched rectangle. You look so comfy there next to the pool and Savananna looks as though she might just jump in.
Hope you are well.
