CAS Christmas Card Challenge-Masculine

Hello my crafty friends, I hope your Sunday is going well. We started off with nice sunshine for most of the day. Now it is black out and a storm is coming. We had mostly a sunny day! Still raining here and the yard smells moldy-not good for my mold allergies, but I keep taking my allergy meds hoping for a dry out at some point. But I was thankful for the sun today!

I am flying in under the wire, hopefully, to join in at the CAS Christmas Card Challenge where I think it is a masculine Christmas card they are looking for. So I hope this card qualifies! As always, everything I used will be listed in the recipe section at the end of this post. In hind sight, I should have shadowed my letters with black, and I was going to do just that, but forgot since I was rushing to get this done before the challenge closed and I was treating the hot tub as well before the storm hits. But overall I am pretty happy with how this came out. I used grey real brush pen on my house to give it a little shadow, but you really can't see it to well in the photo, but can in real life.

Then I thought I would try my hand at the encrusted jewel embossing. Well, tried is the key word!!! What a mess! lol I finally got smart and used a frying pan with a silicon mat to protect the frying pan and then held my heat gun up high while the stove was heating underneath. That worked out pretty good. I just don't have much stuff to use to make the encrusted embossing to look good, but it isn't a loss either. Here is what it looks like:

So not a total loss, and the picture doesn't even do it justice as you can't really see the colors that are in it. But not like what I've seen you all do either!  Still usable though and so in the UFO box it will go until I decide how I want to use it.

As always, I thank you for stopping by and visiting a spell. Sorry it has been so soggy around here. lol The rain is coming down as I type. Your comments always bring sunshine into my life though and for that I thank you!!!!

Crafty Hugs,

Sweet masculine Christmas card Brenda. LOVE the use of the plaid for the lettering and strip down the side. Your encrusted heart turned out beautifully!! Love the sparkle ... can see that in the photo. And it looks like you have lots of colours from an iridescent powder or glitter. Great work. Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Christmas. Hope the storm passes soon and you'll be back to sunshine. xx

A great masculine Christmas card, Brenda! I love your beautiful ombre-look blue sky! I can see the gray shadows of the house. I think they're good because they're subtle. I'm glad you made it to the due date. Thank you for sharing with us at CAS Christmas!
p.s. Good for you that you tried the encrusted jewel technique. The heart one is so pretty! Hideko xx

Oh Brenda what an innovative card - love how you have 'spelt' home, especially by using the tartan paper on the letters.
Your encrusted embossing looks gorgeous - I will have to use a frypan and heat gun combination too.
Blessings

I'm going to have to CASE your idea of adding plaid to the letters! What a great look that is with the strip down the side too! Love this masculine make - it's cute and fun and perfect for the gentlemen in our lives! Good for you giving the encrusted jewel embossing, because I've never even heard of it before, but I love that great sparkle and shine on the heart die! It will make a fantastic Valentine I'm sure :) Now I'm off to Youtube to discover this new technique you tried :) Enjoy your week ahead and I hope those allergies soon subside! With this crazy weather my a/c is on one day/off the next. Windows open/windows closed, a/c back on. It's really been a strange season so far!

This is a gorgeous card! I love those dual tone big letters, and the little house village is adorable. I think the letters look just fine without shadowing too. Love that plaid, definitely qualifies as masculine. So GOOD JOB! I have been drooling over this encrusted embellie stuff I'm seeing everyone do. I have been afraid to even try it, so you've done good, Girl! Don't think I have a skillet I want to mess up either, could be another reason. I DO have a real hot heat gun that might work. Your heart turned out quite nice, I think. What are you going to use it with? I'm so glad to see you trying these things. My other Brenda has too. Hope the storms don't get too bad, nor the allergies either! Big hugs, and hope all is going well. TFS ...MM

This is a great HOME design, Brenda! I love how you put a house where the O should be! You should be happy with it! And I think you should be happy with your stunning embossed heart, too! I love the choice you made to pick the scalloped heart; I'm going to try one of those, too. I can imagine it is very glossy and schparkly in real life! I hope the moldy old rain stops soon!! Hugs, Auntie

Oh Brenda I love your Christmas card. That plaid paper is delightful and the house for the O is so clever. I think you did a great job with your encrusted heart. I like that you did it in your skillet too. It works just fine unless like Mary H. told me you have a glass top stove that cycles on and off. I only used two different powders on one of the cards I made. Your heart is shiny and chunky like it is supposed to be and it is lovely.
