UR Amazing!

Hello my crafty friends, I hope your weather is brighter than ours! It has been so gloomy this winter, which is not like us. We usually have lots of sun in the winter, even after it snows.  So I'm not loving this gloomy, foggy weather!

I'm coming in under the wire, but I wanted to join in on Darnell's NBUS challenge for this week. I think she is having three weeks of challenges using your NBUS (never been used schtuff), but one change this time around. She has an optional twist with each week! This week was use your colored pencils on kraft cardstock. Well, I've always wanted to do that, but never did. So this morning was the morning to give it a try. Wanted to get this done last night, but granddaughter left late, and Bret wanted to go to town and wanted me to go along. Darnell is also celebrating a blogaversary as well as an wedding anniversary!!! Happy Anniversary Auntie Darnell!!!! Both for the blog and the wedding anniversary!!!

I stamped my images because last year I had made up my mind to always do at least 2 of each card while the supplies where out. One image I colored with a white Prisma colored pencil first, the other one I did not. I wanted to see which would have the brightest coloring. I was very surprised by this little test! The one with no white base was NOT the brightest! Ok then! So that surprised me. I also wanted to put some black and pink sequins on both of my cards, but I couldn't find them. Yeah, everything is a mess. Hard to craft when you are tearing your room apart! Anyway, I down right copied one of Miss Emma's design team members for this card. You can see that card here among all the cards using the stamp and die set that I used. You will see it right away. Yes, I did change my up some, but the design is the same! I'm not sure which designer I copied because their names aren't on the cards, or I would totally give them credit. Her DT is crazy talented!!! Anyway here is my two cards.

Thanks so much for stopping by and visiting me for a spell. I hope our weather didn't depress you too much! I will say that your comments bring the brightest sunshine to my life and I am so grateful for you all!!!

This one was colored with a white colored pencil before adding the other colors. I also dropped my ink pad on the edge of my card! So I used my sand eraser and then put that little piece of paper by the sentiment. Ooops!

This one I colored first and then used the white pencil to highlight areas. Much brighter colors! What do you think???

Crafty hugs.

I'm happy to see you are spending time with your granddaughter and getting out with Bret. It has been rainy and gray for a while here too and yesterday we had sun. That helps my mood so much. You did a great job on your card. I love the flamingo and coloring it in white first really gave some lovely shading. I think your dropping the ink pad just added a fun element to your card with the little matching strip of paper. The highlights are pretty but both are perfect. Hugs to you, my friend.

Both versions look good to my eye, and I love how well the pink shows up on kraft! I love how quickly and efficiently you covered up the boo-boo too! You're so clever :) Cute cards!!

Brenda I know what you mean about family taking time - I see my Grandies quite often, they often call in spontaneously, and they do demand my attention...
Love your cars, and the way you have used the wee scrap of paper to cover your boo boo is fabulous - looks all part of the design. Wonderful colouring on the kraft!

It may just be because it is late here or the fact that I'm on my Chromebook, but honestly, they look pretty darn much the same to me, Brenda - and that means both flamingos look really awesome colored in the pink against the kraft paper! You did a great job of CASEing! I love that design and I have to say that booboo is one of the best "happy accidents" that I've ever seen! Looking at both cards, I like the design with the added element better!

Thank you so much for playing in my NBUS Challenge #8! I know it was a bit of a challenge finding the time and finding your things and I appreciate it! You are a super woman to manage time with your granddaughter and Bret and me! Lots of love and hugs, Auntie Darnell

Fabulous colouring on Kraft Brenda my friend! LOVE both of them! I don't own any Kraft paper as I tried it once and it didn't turn out very good (not like yours at all), maybe I should give it another try sometime! Also, LOVE your save on your first card and it even seems to add a 'je ne sais quoi' to it! Have a wonderful week! Hazel xx

The white pencil brightens both flamingos, Brenda! I love your little "oops". I think that little strip of paper is perfect! It's been quite cloudy here too. Every now and then we see the sun peek out. Hope you get a sunshiny day today!

Love both cards and great idea to do 2 while your doing them :) I think the 1st one has a smoother look with the white background done 1st. but with that said they both look great and either one is cool in it's own way. Yes I agree about the gloomy weather! It's really not energizing at all
Hugs my friend, Tina

Very clever to make two cards when you have everything out! They are so gorgeous Brenda, great colouring on kraft, I seem to find it a bit difficult.

I think both cards are fabulous. I am really enjoying that great flamingo. He looks like a proud fella!

I think you are right about the white making the colours more intense but truly, they are both lovely!

Great work on the pencil coloring of this pretty flamingo. I think both are lovely, but #2, with the pencil highlight is much brighter. Only notice this, though, because the 2 are side by side. Seeing them separately, I doubt you'd notice this! I love the border design with this card....adds a lot of pizzazz to Mr. Flamingo. Glad you made it in time. I worked on kraft & pencil coloring last night. May not make the deadline, but at least it inspired me to get the pencils out again! TFS & Hugs. MM

It is so amazing how one little change can make the difference on how your coloring looks!!! I love both of your flamingo's!!! Most fabulous cards!!!
Hey, I don't only drop my ink pads on my project, I stick my finger or the heel of my hand in mine!!!

Both cards are just gorgeous Brenda! I like them both but definitely think the 2nd one with the white highlights show more brightness and color. :)
I hope you have been good and staying busy! Hoping that your gloomy weather goes away!! Miss you!

Jo

I love your pink flamingo image Brenda! Just so cute and so beautifully coloured too. I thought/expected that the one with a layer of white first would be brightest but it's not, lol! I will have to see how my colouring pencils cope with kraft too - you've inspired me to try it!
I just saw the photo of Savannah too, my goodness, she is a big lady and I;m pretty sure she'll grow some more too, I love her cute ears! We're in the midst of winter here but no snow and not much ice thankfully, just cold and grey, my joints are hurting much more this year so I am really looking forward to spring and brighter days too xx

You did an excellent job of coloring on kraft, Brenda. I really envy your skill! The design is very striking - the black and white and pink down the side look terrific. That's a very cool stamp and die.
