Happy Camper - BBTB2 Challenge

Hello my crafty friends, I hope this Monday finds you refreshed and ready for the new week! Did you see my title?? Happy Camper-wish I could say I was a happy camper, but I can't.  Now what am I not happy about you ask? My card, nope not happy with it at all. I wanted to do a layout but everything I started I messed up. First off I wasn't in the mood to craft. So of course nothing was going right. Then after going out to eat I thought maybe I was ready to start again. Nope! So I gave up on the layout thing and decided I would do a card. Ok, I was beginning to get into this shaped card but then it started. I thought I'd make my little camper one of those vintage ones, so it had to be metal. Ok, that went well, now the layers....first mistake....don't use Tombow glue with metallic papers. We all know how tacky Tombow glue is right?! Yea, I had some ooze out so I let it dry and then using the adhesive eraser I thought I'd rub it off. Well, I did but streaked the metallic papers in the process making a big mess. Second mistake you ask? Trying to make something when I wasn't in the mood for it.
Ok, let's start at the beginning. My talented design team sister challenged us to use the Campin' Critters cartridge or to do anything project about camping. I've got plenty of camping pictures to scrap so that's why I was going to do a layout. But as you know I changed my mind and went with a card instead. So using Campin' Critters, I took the camper shadow and using my Gypsy I welded two shadow's together making a shaped card. I assembled my card and this is what we got. Would have been cutter had I added some curtains...Would have been prettier if I hadn't gotten glue oozing...Would have been better had I not did anything! lol Oh well that is the way it goes. I would love to have a little vintage camper...well any camper really. I would love to take trips in it in the summer time. As you all know this is wishful thinking because I am married to a farmer. And we all know a farmer doesn't leave the farm often. lol So my dreams of taking trips in a little camper is just that dreams. But that's ok, a girl can dream! I hope you check out my design team sisters for they have some awesome inspiration for you. Then get your Campin' Critter's cartridge dusted off and make a card. Don't have the Campin' Critter's cartridge you say?? Don't sweat it, just use any cartridge that has camping die cuts and make a project. Thanks for stopping by and sorry about wasting your time today. lol I appreciate you still visiting me and I hope you have an awesome crafty week! Crafty hugs, Brenda

Since I used snippets for everything but the card base, I am going over across the pond to play at Pixie's Playground and over at DL.ART's August linking party where it is anything goes.

Brenda, I LOVE IT!!! You sound like me when I make a card now! I have a lot of "should have done this" involved with mine too - but I do love how yours came out. Ah.....to have a little camper just like this would be so much fun. It's a cute as can be and love it!

Don't cut yourself short..... My first impression of your card was that your selection of papers was outstanding and that I can never get cleaver enough with my paper selections.

You'll just have to come out to California so you can go camping with me. I often take my cricut and scrapbook materials and work on projects at night.

Great camping card.

Well, Brenda, your card is certainly worth all the effort you put into it - it turned out picture perfect in my eyes. Your paper selections are excellent. I'm not a camper, but I wouldn't mind going out in a vehicle like this :)

Well, despite all the difficulties, your card turned out very cute! I could see myself in your cute little camper….seeing the USA up close. Some days the crafting goblins just get the best of us, huh? Probably tomorrow it will all come together for the perfect camping layout for all your pictures!

Oh Brenda, I love your cute little camper and the pretty paper. I do understand the battle sometimes when it just doesn't feel right. Some days things just won't come together. I know that I have days like that and it is so discouraging. My Dad was a farmer and we didn't leave the farm much either. Maybe that is why I am a homebody, now. I hope you get to do some travelling.
Hugs.

Mamma said there'd be days like this didn't she? LOL I feel your pain in the lack of creative juices flowing, but actually, this card turned out pretty doggoned cute anyway! Life really is good, and you'll jump right back into it again after your brain has a chance to re-charge it's creative side :) Hugs!

My first impression-This is soooo cute! You would never know how much trouble you gave yourself. haha I could have written this post. It sounds just like my crafting adventures the last few weeks.
But I love this card. The papers and colors, the shape of the camper, they all look so retro. Love it!

I think this camper card is adorable! My dad used to have a camper and after 1 trip it looked a little well used. So I think this camper looks like it's been on a fun trip! I'd love to travel too, but even though DH isn't a farmer, he isn't a traveler either.

I love this, it's so cute and so compact - it's a really beautiful card huni! We are gluttons for punishment at times though - I know that feeling of trying to fight through and create even though you know that you really shouldn't because you are not in the right 'head space' lol! Anyways huni I don't care what anyone else thinks I LOVE this super cute card Karen xx

Okay, I confessed to laughing over your frustrations, because you've captured perfectly a great many of my crafting gong shows! I confess that some 'colourful language' would also be part of the moments of grrrr (for a good laugh, see my recent post where I 'tried' using water-colour on a striped stencil! Not a stripe in sight!!). Your perseverance paid off (despite the gritted teeth!) because your retro/vintage camper is totally adorable! I see nothing but sweetness in every detail (smudges? colour issues? Not from my perspective). Yes, a 'real' camper would be a blast! I refuse to camp in tents any longer (seriously...way toooo messy for "princess me") but I'd do a camping trip now and again. If we had one, visiting you would for sure be on my travel schedule! Love your camper; love your post! Huge hugs, girl friend!!

OK...I read all the "I don't likes" and am in total disagreement with you. I feel your frustration, but your card turned out very cute! As for curtains, heck these are the shades pulled down. Your metallic turned out great, and some aluminum campers look just like this! Love the bright touches you've added and I'm in awe of these welding skills to create this card & it's shadow. So THERE! It's adorable, and you did a good job too. Now find someone who owns a camper and you've got a card ready for them. (Me: my camping is in a nice motel or hotel, with a good restaurant close by. In a camper, I'd be cleaning, fixing meals and not a happy camper at all!) Hugs & TFS

Brenda, this did make me laugh, I can so relate! Crafting when not in the right mood seems to cause crafty meltdown!
But your camper looks great, retro fun!

Oh, poor snoogums, you are so hard on yourself! Your little silver mini-Air Stream looks pretty darn delightful from where I'm sitting! We spent many years camping, but we never had a camper with a happy plaid side panel and a polka dot door!! Hugs, Darnell
