At Home on the Farm-BBTB2

Happy Monday my crafty friends!  Since it is Monday you know what that means, yep-another Bitten By The Bug 2 challenge!  This week our sweet Krista picked "Farm Animals" for our theme challenge.  Well I knew just what I was going to do, make a layout of our grand-daughter who loves to go feed our steers with her papaw.  She is always asking where are papaw's cows when we go to NY to see them.  So cute, not that I'm bias or anything. lol  For my layout I used Country Life for my barn and farmer, Printing Press for my title, Paper Dolls for Everyday for the clouds, Celebrate with Flourish for the sun, Pop Up Neighborhood for the tree/hill, and My World for the fence on the second page. I used a cloud to do my journaling on and put the date on my fence.

I hope that you will pop over to BBTB2 and read our simple rules and then join in on the challenge!  It's so fun and you will get a lot of inspiration from the design team members.  Hope to see a project from you soon!!! Until next time, Happy Crafting!!

CardzTV Challenge-Sparkle

Hi my crafty friends, today I made a card for the challenge going on over at CardzTV.  You are to make a card with either a snowman or snowflakes on it for the Christmas in July theme.  Keeping with the cooling off theme here.lol  I made a card using the technique that is going around on the boards as well as Pinterest.  My girlfriend showed it to me first and then I saw it here on Laura's blog.  I've been wanting to make one for a while and when Mary's challenge came up this was my opportunity to make one!  If you would like to watch a video you can see it here with all the sizes.  I only used my Cuttlebug, snowflake embossing folder as well as the snowflake die and embossing folder.  I hope you enjoy this card, I had fun making it.  Until next time my friend, happy crafting!!

It's Christmas in July at SSD!

Hi my crafty friends, Brenda here.  It is Christmas in July at Sweet Sassy Diva. Our theme for this week is Christmas in July.  What a great time to get started on those Christmas projects!!  As hot as it has been we all can use some thoughts of snow and colder temps. lol  Of course come December we will be wishing for the summer sun again.  No please me that's for sure. lol For my project I did something a little different.  I took A2 envies and made a little mini book out of them.  Now this certainly isn't my idea, I'm just not that clever or smart to come up with something like this. lol  You can find a step by step tutorial here.  To start with I took my first envie and tucked the flat inside the envelope.

Now get another envelope and bend the flap towards the front of the envelope, with the front of the envelope facing you tuck the flap into the other envie.  Keep doing this until you have ever how many pages you want your mini to have-not counting the front and last one as you will be coving that one with a chipboard cover.  Clear as mud?

On the "spine" of my envelopes I put score tape about a quarter of an inch in to make allow my "spine" to expand out as I fill my pockets with tags and photos.

Next (I've already done this in my previous pic) cut some chipboard (like cereal boxes) the same size as your envelopes or slightly larger than your envelopes.  I chose slightly larger on three sides as I wanted my "pages" to sit in from my covers.  If you want to have your mini tie closed this is a good time to attach two pieced of ribbon on the front and back envelopes.  I did not do this because I had forgotten. lol  Cover your front and back of each piece of chipboard with paper of your choice.  Then attach to your envelopes.  Ok here is where I messed up, lol, I was so tired that my mind just wasn't thinking and I didn't cover all the way around on my chipboard.  So I lost my little pocket on the inside cover, but have no fear I made up for it and made a pocket once I had my covers attached to my envelopes.  Now you can cover each envie and decorate. I used Santa's Village Imagine cart and Elegant Edges. You will have a pocket on the left side of each page.  Here is what mine looks like, I plan on using it to either send to my aunt and uncle with pics of the grandkids and the family.  I also plan on making one for my son who will be deploying in Jan. to Afghan.  I want to put in pics of the family and his children for him.  I thought his wife and the kids could write on the tags as well as me and my husband to give him something to read and know that we are missing him and wishing he was back home.

I tried not to bore you with to many photos so I just showed a few pages.  Seen one and you've seen them all. lol  Please come check out what the Sweet and Sassy design team has in store for you this week.  Come and you just may be inspired a little to make your own Christmas in July project!  Happy craftin ya'll!

Christmas in July BBTB2

Hi my crafting friends, I have a Christmas card for you today.  What???  It's not Christmas! lol  Oh but it is this week at BBTB2.  Our talented design team sister Jayne has given us the challenge of doing any project with the theme "Christmas in July".  What a great way to get a head start on some Christmas project cause as we all know to well that Christmas kinda' sneaks up on you! For my card today I used some paper from either K&Co or Martha Steward Christmas paper.  Sorry I'm not sure which stack I used!  But the Santa heads on it were so retro looking and I really liked them, so I decided to go with it.  My card is a 5 x 7 and I used kraft cardstock for the base, then layered a red mat that has some creamy lacy pattern in it on next.  Actually this paper was left over from a red, white and blue stack that I got at Hobby Lobby.  Then came my retro santa paper.  I cut a mat from Elegant Edges along with the shadow out of the Kraft cardstock and then the red paper with the creamy lacy pattern.  Then I printed the image of just Santa's profile for on the mat.  I used some low foam tape for a little dimension.  Then I punched out some snowflakes from a Martha Steward snowflake punch.  Glittered them up and attached them on with some dimensionals.  I also inked up my paper layers with Vintage Photo distressing ink. My sentiment is from My Pink Stamper. Overall  I am pretty please with how this card came out.  I hope you will join us at BBTB2 and play along.  Just remember that you must use your Cricut for these challenges.  You can read the rules over at BBTB2 and while you are there check out what my wonderful design team sisters have made, I promise you will find lots of inspiration and you will ooooh and ahhhhh over their projects!!  So come on over and join us!  Until next time my friends...happy crafting!

Road Trip!

I have two posts up today, if you are looking for the BBTB2 challenge click here.

Hi all my crafty friends, Brenda here and it is time for another Sweet Sassy Diva challenge.  We were given the challenge of doing a project with the theme "vacation".  Well last August dear husband and I just got into our car and started driving west.  We had no plans, didn't know where in the heck we were going to go or what we were going to see.  It was the best trip I've ever had! lol  To begin with we haven't been anywhere just the two of us in a long, long time.  I can say we had a blast and I hope that we can do it again sometime.  So since this was a special trip, I decided to make a mini album of the places we went and the things we did.  I started out designing my mini on my Gypsy.  I went with the interstate sign from the solutions cart, Street Signs.  I put the shadow on my mat and I put the sign on as well.  I welded letters into each part of the sign by hide/contour part of it. So I put Lawrences in the top half, and Road Trip into the lower half so it would cut out. Then I cut my front and back covers using chipboard, ok, it is the back of a paper stack. lol Those and cereal boxes make great chipboard!! After cutting out my shadow shape, I cut my pieces in the colors: black, red, and blue and attached them to my front cover.

Here is what the front cover looks like.  I added 12 pages into this mini, if I need more I will just add more.  But this gives me 24 pages to document our trip on.

I started my first page off with a state map of PA from 50 States and the  map badge from Campin' Critters.  I thought that I would put a state map in for each state we went into and what we did there. My title, destination? unknown came from Art Philosophy.

I hope that I've given you some inpiration today.  Please stop in at Sweet Sassy Diva and check out what else my design team sisters have for you this week!!

BBTB2 Fashion Challenge!

Hello all my crafty friends!  It is time for another BBTB2 challenge and our sweet design team sister  Rebekah has chosen a Fashion Show challenge for us.  Use any fashion themed die cut from Cricut and make any project of our choice.  Please check out the challenge and please note that this is a Cricut challenge.  Please make sure to use your Cricut to make a die cut using the fashion theme.  I chose to use Forever Young Cricut cart and Elegant Edges.  I made  four 3 x 3 cards with envies.  On my card I chose a base frome Elegant Edges and cut that out with some left over zebra vellum I had from another project.  The I used my Gypsy to size my die cuts from Forever Young.  I cut out the sunglasses, perfume bottle, shoes,  and a purse along with some fashion words.  I used pink glitter paper along with regular paper.  Then I used glossy accents ontop of my die cuts to make them look shiny along with the glitter. I pop dotted each fashion die cut to give some dimension.  I cut a purse from Forever Young and made fit to page.  I assembled my purse and cut off the tab that keeps the purse closed as my cards were to tall to use it.  I added some flowers to my purse and placed my cards in it.  I think this will be a cute little gift set for someone who is really girly!  I like the way it came together and I am pretty pleased with the results.  Please go check out what my design team sisters have made, I promise you won't be disappointed!!  Now won't you please follow the rules at BBTB2 and link up a fashion themed project!

Summer Fun!

Hi my crafty friends, Brenda here and this week at Sweet Sassy Diva we were given the challenge of " Lazy Days of Summer".  I love summer and being lazy. lol  I also love just lazing around the pool in the afternoons.  Yes, I am spoiled!  For my layout I picked some papers to use.  The papers came from the DCWV Summer stack. The Cricut carts that I used are H2O and Don Juan.  I first picked out my pictures that I wanted to use and dry set them on my papers.

Then I used my Gypsy to size my die cuts to fit in my 4 x 4 squares and to make my title.  For the first page of my layout I let the paper do the work for me and I just added two photos and another title.

Here is my layout of two of our sweet grand-daughters hanging out at the pool with us. I kept my layout easy as I have so many pics that need scrapping and I am way, way behind. lol

Some close ups

I hope that you get inspired by our design team and decide to do a layout with the theme "Lazy Days of Summer" and I hope you are having an awesome summer thus far!

Window to my World

Hi all my crafty friends!  The weeks just seem to zoom by me and before I know it, it's Monday again. lol  And if it is Monday then it is time for another BBTB2 challenge!!! Yay!  I hosted our challenge this week, it was my first with BBTB2 and I had a blast doing it.  I chose "Window to my World" theme.  You could do any kind of project, using any cart of your choice as long as it had the window theme.  I did a layout about what the pool means to me in the summer.  I used Opposites Attract for my title along with Billionaire.  My window came from Christmas solution car.  I inked it with Tim Holtz distress inks, Broken China, Antique Linen and Vintage Photo and my guy on the towel came from Pack Your Bags. I colored my little fella with Spectrum Noir markers cause I didn't have any flesh paper, I also gave him a "farmers tan" just like my hubby has. lol  I also made him into my journaling spot by welding two fella's together.  My paper is from DCWV but can't remember which stack. Sorry!!  I used blues and yellows because blue reminds me of the water and yellows reminds me of the sun.    I hope you enjoy my layout.  You will find lots of inspiration from my design team sisters on BBTB2 and I hope that you will join us in this theme.  Just link up your project and as always you have two weeks to do so!
