Comfort Card, Memphis Photo's

Hello my crafty friends, I hope your Tuesday is off to a great start. It is a busy week here between the dogs and outings.

I have the card to share that I made to for the family that lost two children in the auto accident. The more I hear about this accident the more I pray for this family. The one child that wasn't killed instantly, the family donated her organs to go help other children to live. Such a selfless act on behalf of the family and at such a difficult time to make this selfless act. I can't even image. It was hard enough losing my beloved DH, but to lose a child and not just one child, but two-again I just can't even imagine! I hope this card and others helps bring come comfort to them all. It looks better in person too. Not sure why it doesn't look as well here on the screen. Such as it is.

Left the inside mostly blank except for this sentiment because I wanted to write in the card.

Thanks for all your advice on my Christmas card from Sunday. I am going to see how a sentiment will look on it by holding one up on vellum or the stamp. If I don't like it I will leave it as is.

Oops, I published before I put in my photo's from Memphis. What a great time Memphis was. Loved getting to "know" Elvis better in Memphis. He really was a wonderful man and good to so many people. They adore him in Memphis as they should!

Sun Studio's where Elvis recorded his first record, "That's Alright Mama".  Edited to say that Elvis's first recording wasn't "That's Alright" it was "My Happiness". "That's Alight" was the first recording that was played on the radio.

The restaurant where Elvis loved to eat. I wanted to try his Peanut butter/banana sandwich, but wouldn't you know they ran out of banana's and came back and asked me to order something else. Will be making it here at home to try it! You mash your banana and mix with the peanut butter and spread on toast. Then you melt some butter and grill the toast. We will be how it taste here when I buy some banana's. lol  So I ended up order french toast and it was the best french toast I've ever had! And grits of course, have to have my grits when down south as well as at home.

This street was similar to the one in Nashville, a party street, only we didn't come down in the evening when it was hustling and bustling. The tour guide told us as the evening fell, children had to be home and it was adult time then. Curfew for children in Memphis.

St. Judes, a statue of Danny Thomas and his children.

Graceland. Can't go to Memphis without going to Elvis's home. I love it. I love that it wasn't over the top huge, but still big. The rooms were comfortable and elegant. The jungle room was interesting but fun. The pool room where the pool table was was interesting too. If you want to see and know about the history of Graceland, this is a great video to watch. You will see the inside of the house. We weren't allow up in the private area's of the home upstairs, but they do show Elvis's bedroom in this video.

A huge tourist attraction in Memphis as well. The Pyramid. It houses a huge Bass Pro shop in it as well as a hotel of cabins! See that white balcony at the top? You can pay $10 to go up there and walk out on it, it has a glass bottom. Thanks but no thanks! lol

Again so much to see and do in Memphis, so this is just a little taste of the city. I hope you enjoyed it. I know I love being there and would love to go again someday if able. If not, I am very thankful to have been blessed to go!

As always thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to visit me. Your comments always bring much joy and sunshine into my life and I appreciate you all. I will be by once again soon. Getting behind already! What's new there?! lol But I will be by to visit at least for one post if not more soon.

Christmas Card-Advice Please

Hello my crafty friends, I hope your weekend has been a good one. It's been a nice sunny one for us. Which is a nice change after all the rain. We have been trying to put things away for winter. I would have preferred to have it already done, but the weather stayed warm for so long and then I was gone most of Oct. Then I have to wait for a "bye" with Penn State Football team because of course Bret can't do anything when football is on!

I wanted to join in the Rudolph Challenge, but of course I didn't make it in time. Little Maverick has kept me busy with potty breaks and keeping him from chewing on things he isn't supposed too. I finally got a card made but it didn't come out the way it was in my head and I need some advice on how to make it look better. So please let me know what I could do to help it as it needs something!! I just don't know what that something should be. So  suggestions please!!!

Flowers for a Friend

Hello my crafty friends, I hope today is a good one for you. We are having a warm week this last week of Oct. I'm not complaining either, as I'm not looking forward to winter. lol

I have some cards for you today that I made a long while ago but never shared. They are the same but different. What?! Is this one of those "find the differences in the two pictures"? Kinda, sorta', maybe, not really. lol I made these cards a while back, before I fell back in May. I was getting all my birthday cards ready so I could maybe mail them out on time for once. I ended up late on a couple, but not as bad as I usually am. I kept them simple, stamping a black and with a strip of black or gold down the left side of the flowers. Adding some black paper strips as well. So as you can see, they are all alike, but different. I am liking the flowers just in black and white, I think they look elegant that way. But I do want to color them sometime as well, to see how that would look too. Maybe, if brave enough, watercolor them.

As always the things I used will be listed down in the recipe section. I want to thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to visit me. I'm trying to get around to visit you as well even though I'm not consistent with it right now. Your comments always bring lots of cheer and joy to my life and I appreciate you!

A Favor...

Don't faint, yes, a second post in one day. lol But this post is different and I have no cards or anything else crafty to share with you in this post. But instead am asking for a favor. A friend of mine has family that was in a bad accident on the Turnpike, they lost two of their children in that accident. Very sad. We want to support them with cards of caring/encouragement as they have a long journey to go with the lost of two of their children. It helps when people care, I know this all to well myself. So I am asking if you could send a card to them to help them get through the funerals and this difficult journey. A parent should never have to bury a child, but we know that isn't always the case. So please share a card with this family letting them know that people care. Thank you everyone, you are the best!!!

A New Family Member, Wedding Cards, Nashville-long post!

Hello my crafty friends, I'm home from my trip, rested for a week or rested as much as I could with a new puppy in the house. What?!! Yes, a new puppy is in the house. How did that happen you ask? Well Bret called asking about rescuing a little mini Aussie. Well, I had to think long and hard on this one. But thought that it would be good for Kahlua to have someone besides Savannah to depend on and maybe Savannah would get a break from Kahlua. I also thought that when Bret is ready to move out, it would help Kahlua to have a buddy and wouldn't be so anxious about not being with Savannah, so I said I guess so. So meet Maverick. He is a sweet little laid back puppy and I think once he is out of the puppy stage he will be a great little dog. He isn't a grouchy old man like Kahlua is a grouchy old lady. lol He isn't anxious like she is either. So that is a good thing, maybe he will rub off on Kahlua! Savannah has become a little mother to him as well. Meet Maverick!

Now shock of all shocks I have a couple of wedding cards to share. I did a print and cut with my Cricut for my images as well as the sentiments. A little embossing and a little bit of pearls and before you know it, a couple of wedding cards.

Trying to catch the shimmer of the Nuvo glitter brush.

My trip was wonderful, exhausting but wonderful! We started out a few days in Pigeon Forge, took in a show which was so fun as they did music from the 40's forward. Then we headed to Nashville. I had in my head a whole different view of what I thought Nashville would be, after that culture shock, I enjoyed the city very much. Lower Broadway was very loud as there were live bands playing in every honky tonk, but it was fun hearing them all. One thing I found very funny-I'm a country bumpkin, so I've never seen anything like this before-was this little contraction. A Petal Tavern! I laughed and laughed at it and the people on it. It looked like fun, although I don't think I would be drinking what they were drinking. lol You pay $40 to ride this thing, you have to bring your own booze and you have to work to peddle it, there is a driver that steers it, but it runs by the people peddling it. Very popular in Nashville as well as Memphis! I'm sure in other places as well. We toured the town by a "hip hop" bus and had a great driver as well as tour guide. She had lots of stories since she has lived in Nashville her whole life and worked as a tour person for all the stars that came and recorded in the city. When she was a little girl, she was at her grandmother's house when her ball rolled across the street to a recording studio. Who was there you ask? Well none other than Elvis Presley! He picked up her ball and gave it back to her. Then one day, her grandmother was out tending her tomatoes in the front of the house, when Elvis walked by. Started talking to the grandmother about her tomatoes and they became good friends! Whenever Elvis was in town, he ate at her grandmother's house! How cool is that! Our tour guide was with so many famous people taking them around the city and such. Many rock groups that lots would recognize. I think she was a bit wild when she was younger, but as an older lady, she sure did make the tour around the city fun. Did you know that Nashville didn't start out as a country music place? It started out as a Rhythm and Blues town! Now you know the rest of the story. lol All music comes through Nashville for the most part. So doesn't matter if it is country music, rock music, etc....It all gets recorded in Nashville. We went to the Sun Studio's (opps, Sun Studio's is in Memphis!) where Elvis made his first record for his Mama, "That's Alright Mama". We went to the Picker's store-if anyone watches Frank and Mike. Went to the Grand Ole Opry-which was amazing and thrilling. Saw a man who did Elvis songs, he didn't look like Elvis but he sure did sing and move like Elvis did! We also went to the George Jones Museum and saw the infamous lawn mower where he got his DUI on.  We also went to Madame Tussauds, which was pretty neat. So many other things to share about Nashville, but since this post is a long one, I will stop here and share some photos. Next time I will tell about Memphis and as you know, it will be mostly about Elvis. lol

Isn't this just the funniest thing?!

The Picker's building/store

 The Grand Ole Opry doors!

Madame Tussauds Wax Museum-all the kids today think Ozzie is a new band. lol

As always I want to thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to stop by and visit little ole me. You all are just the best and I want you to know how much I value you all and how much sunshine you all bring into my life. I know I've not been great at getting around visiting you all, but I am trying to get in some commenting. Life is busy, especially now with this new little fella-lots of potty outings! And then the other two girls. They keep me hopping! But I will try to get around for some posts.

Where Am I? An Update

Hello my crafty friends, wanted to pop on here and update everyone. I know I am always "missing in action" a lot. I wish I had a good answer for that but think I have finally figured it out. I am changing, leaving the grieving seasons (years) and moving on with life. That's not to say I won't ever be back to blogging regularly or visiting all my lovely crafty friend's blogs and leaving comments. But right now I am not regular about that at all and I don't know when I will be. So I hope you all will bear with me while I figure out this life of mine. I am keeping busy. I go to the library on Wednesday's for senior day for people 55 and older. We exercise, play games/movies/puzzles, play Jeopardy or Family Feud, have speakers that come in and have a nice lovely free lunch. It is 4 hours of fun and meeting new people. Most are older than me, but I am still enjoying it very much. I've been going to the movies at least once a week with friends. Been getting crafty as well. I was asked to make stencils for 5 very large signs, my nephew has asked me to do coach gifts for him for this year since it is his senior year, and of course doing other crafty things.

I am also going away for just about the whole month of Oct. I'm a little nervous about being gone for so long though. lol Bret will be holding down the fort and taking care of the dogs. Where am I going you ask? Well let me tell you, on Oct 3rd, my sister friend, her husband and I leave their house in VA for Gatlinburg, TN. We will spend about 4 days there, then will move on to Memphis-spend another 4 days or so there and then onto Nashville. Again, 4 days or so there and then moving on to Waco TX. Then back home. It should be a fun trip with so much to see and do. I'm looking forward to it, but nervous about getting home sick and missing the pups. But all will be well I'm sure. So that is what is going on around here in my life. Keeping busy, moving on with living and getting crafty here and there.

So here is the signs that I made the stencils (I'm not doing the stenciling, just made the stenciling to the sizes they needed) for as well as the shadow boxes I made for my nephew's golf coach. My nephew will be adding golf tees in the bottom of the shadow box to finish off these gifts. Now I'm designing wrestling gifts, then pole vaulting. I'm sorry I haven't been around visiting in such a long time. It will be a bit longer before I come by I'm afraid. But I will be by sometime!!

As always, thank you for your patience with me. You all mean the world to me and I don't want you to think I've forgotten about you all. I haven't, just trying to figure this life of mine out and trying to just find joy in everyday. With having so many falls, I think I've realized that one day I might not get back up, so I need to live life. I thank you also for always sticking by me. You guys are the best on line friends one could have!

Paper Bag Mini Album-Pic Heavy

Hello my crafty friends, I hope this Friday is a happy one for you and that you are looking forward to a nice weekend. We are supposed to be lower humidity and temps, so I'm liking that!

I have a little tiny mini album I made. And I do mean tiny. lol It is 3.75 x 3.50 with the lid and covers on.  Here is where you will find the directions to it if you want to make one. Helen is amazing and has her own line of stamps, papers and dies. I love watching her and seeing the creations she makes. So I wanted to try my hand at making a tiny mini paper bag album. Decided to go with a fall theme, so I used digital images in this little mini. Papers were from my snippets piles and a 4.5 x 6.5 paper stack by DCWV. Had snippets in there as well, but also used some whole sheets. This mini is great for using some snippets up. So here is my tiny mini. As always my supplies will be listed at the bottom in the recipe section.

I kept the outside simple so nothing would get caught on anything. I also made a little "lid" to go on the top of it, to give it a finishing look if someone wants to keep it on a shelf or something.

This is the back of the mini. Can write "made by" or the date in the frame.

 Both sides look like this.

The bottom, and of course the top looks the same as well when you take the "lid" off.

Yes, I forgot that I was going to use magnets to hold it closed along with the lid, so didn't get them under my paper to be hidden. Oh well, I can live with it, but would have preferred them to be hidden.

 Inside cover and first page.

Second page-on the left is a pocket on each page, on the right is the opening of the paper bag so it has two places to put photos on mats.

Here is where the two mats are, so could put 2 photos on each or one photo and journaling on the back.

I think this digital collection is adorable. I didn't use any of the papers from it, but will next go around. Just used the images, tags and such. Hope you enjoyed this little mini.

Thank you for taking time out of your busy summer and visiting with me for a spell. I always love to hear from you as you bring lots of sunshine into my life! I will be by to visit you as well soon. Happy Weekend!

Edited to add that I am going to join in at the Snippet's Playground. I haven't been over to play in quite some time, so it will be nice to go over and see everyone.

Twofer Challenge-Garden

Hello my crafty friends, I hope this Saturday finds you all well and staying cool. It's a hot one out there across most of the country. But the end is in sight....at least for us come Monday. Tuesday through Friday is supposed to be low humidity/dew points and temps of 84! That will feel lovely to throw open the windows and doors!

I wanted to join in the the Twofer Challenge that is garden themed this month. I love my first card, not so much the second card. But it is made so I will go with it. I did print out two each of the sentiments, so I will change things up on the second cards. I used a NBUS stamp set that I've had for ages. I only used the sweet fruit from it with the except of the pears, which I wish I would have used, just wasn't thinking clearly. Again, I will change things up for the second ones I make here soon. I started out printing my sentiments and then built my cards from there by doing my stamping and coloring. No fancy coloring (not that I do fancy) as my markers are drying out and I need to buy refills for them, but that will have to wait. I think I will try water coloring with my distress inks for the next cards. We will see how that goes, or else use my Zig's/Arteza's. Again, will see how that goes.

I want to take the time to thank you for stopping by and visiting with me for a spell. Your comments always bring so much sunshine and joy into my life. I will be by to visit you soon as well!
