Thank You Cards

Hello my crafty friends, I hope you are enjoying your weekend and keeping cool.

I needed a few thank you cards. One for some produce someone gave me from their garden and another one for the help a neighbor gave me when I got locked out of my house earlier in the week. That is quite the story! Long story short, Bret installed a smart lock when my regular lock broke. I thought I gave him fresh, new batteries....but nope, come to find out they were old used batteries. So I got locked out without my phone and Savannah was locked in. Didn't know anyone's phone numbers off the top of my head because who memorizes them anymore?! Had two neighbors helping me, one who tracked down Bret's number and one who drove me to Bret's place, only to find out he was at my house. Anyway, I paid my neighbor handsomely but wanted to also send a thank you card. Yes, I got back into the house thanks to Bret, he had the key and also replaced the batteries with nice new fresh ones! Lesson learned, get a key made to hide and I have memorized Bret's phone number. I had myself all worked up to say the least, took me a few days to recover from it!  LOL

So here are my simple thank you cards. The first one is a CASE of Carol's patchwork cards. Love those and thought it would work great for a thank you too. I just cut out (guessing at sizes) my panels, then did a print then cut of the veggies with some extra's so I could layer it up. So the veggies were attached together before printing then cutting. I cut an extra cabbage and two zucchini's. Layered the cabbage on foam and attached to the group veggies, then added double layer of foam on the ends of the zucchini with one layer in the middle and placed on top of the cabbage. I forgot to get a side view of the dimension, but love how it came out. Cut out a "thanks" die and layered it up three times, glued it down and called it done. All snippets on this card but the card base and mat layer.

This is the one for the neighbor, again a simple but effective thank you card I think. I cut some snippets into 1/4 inch stripes and layered them in rainbow order on my mat layer...yes, I forgot the purple! Duh to me!! But anyway, then die cut my heart out of the the panel. Popped the panel up, then double layered foam for the heart and placed it back in. Layered 3 "thanks" together and glued it down. Done.  I am happy with both cards and they were pretty quick to make which is always a plus.

Thanks for taking the time to stop in to visit with me. I will be by to visit you as well! Enjoy the weekend!

Crafty hugs,

LOL! I thought things like this only happened to me! You're so right on knowing phone numbers anymore too - I finally wrote down several and stuck them in my purse. Of course that won't help a bit if I don't have my purse! DUH! So glad you got back inside and know Savanna was glad too.
Both cards are great and I like the idea of putting the veggies on that first card. I love the patchwork look. The stripes and heart on the second are perfect! Love both of them!

Thank goodness for wonderful neighbors. That had to be traumatic to be locked out. Your thank you cards are lovely and will be so appreciated.

If your darling veggie card represents the garden goodies you received from that friend, then that was a wonderful and delicious gift, and a perfect thank you for it!
I have to tell you that I got a little anxious just reading about your lock situation, Brenda! I'm not sure I've ever heard of a lock with batteries, but I know I can live without it! [and the purple isn't even missed from your heartfelt rainbow thank you!]

Two wonderful, bright thank you cards, Brenda! I'm sure they are not expected and will be appreciated! I'm leery of these "smart" things. I think only the younger generations are smart enough to use them. I'm sure not!

OH! My Goodness Brenda, what adventures you are having, nice one with the gift of veg, of which I'm sure the card was appreciated. It's bright and I love the veg and the large thanks, just perfect. As for your second adventure, not so pleasant, I can feel the panic this side of the pond! I think I would be the same, then to find Bret was at your house, OH! Dear, what a time you must have had. At least it all ended well. The beautiful heart with its lovely paper and large heart will show how grateful you were for their help. I must think of adding some numbers to my bag and maybe a spare key around somewhere. Thanks for the tip.

I can't believe a whole week has gone by and I hadn't seen this post yet, but I'm happy to see it now! Aren't those patchwork cards a fun way to use up those little bits of paper? I love the colors, patterns and fresh veggies for the perfect little thank-you card. The rainbow stripes look great with that heart too and I love that thanks die! Two great cards! As for your new smart lock..... I'm sticking with the old dumb locks because I can operate them! lol All this new smart technology was not designed for us old school folks, that's for danged sure! Glad you got all that stuff sorted out though! Whew! Savannah must have been wondering why you left her inside?! LOL Stay cool in this humid weather - whew! It's really hard to breath when the air is that thick!

Oh, my! Sorry to hear that you got locked out! It happened to me one time when I took out the trash and silly me just automatically locked the door without thinking. I had to go to a neighbor’s house ‘til hubby came home. I was so embarrassed for I was in my PJ’s, too, lol! Anyways, things do happen, right?! Your cards are lovely and very thoughtful! Great design and love the colors! I’m sure they will be appreciated! Take care and have a great week, hugs!!

You have been having adventures, Brenda but I hope all is settled now. I remember getting locked out when I went out to the bins and my my toddler son was inside! I'll never forget that one lol! I hope making these lovely cards helped settle your nerves and I love how both designs could be useful for using up scraps. They're both so cheery and pretty.
Hope you are well.
