A Few Challenges

Hello my crafty friends, hope your week is starting out well. It's been foggy & gloomy here with rain since Sunday, but we need this rain, so I won't complain. COVID numbers are going up here and I'm not liking that. I so wish everyone would just wear their masks. Gatherings are a problem too, but I feel it can be done safely if people just adhere to the guidelines of wearing masks inside or stay outside and social distance. Oh well, my complaining is not going to change anything, but common sense would go a long way with this pandemic.

I decided I would join in a few challenges for once. Yes, I know shocking! But was able to cover all three challenges with one card. Then it is back to working on Christmas projects. I'm not exactly thrilled with this card, but not totally unhappy with it either. I think the metallic mirror paper is throwing me off. Hard to get a photo with shiny paper too. So I laid it down to take the photo. Still got a reflection at the bottom. Don't like the black sentiment banner either, but though it would help tone down the shine a little. It didn't and I don't like it. Didn't like white either, maybe I should try pink or green like my greenery on my poinsettia. What do y'all think? Anyway here is my card:

The challenges:
Rudolph Challenge-Christmas card challenge from the 25th of each month to the end of each month.

CAS(E) this Sketch-your interpretation of their sketch

Let's Squash It!-A new challenge where you are to use your embossing folders. They have prompts for you to follow which was a geometric folder and metallic card stock/metal.

Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to come and visit with me. Sorry we had such gloomy weather. Your comments mean the world to me and bring so much brightness to my life. If I haven't been by to visit you, please know I am making my rounds and should be there soon. Stay safe, stay healthy and enjoy each other.

Crafty hugs,

Goodness, you're so hard on yourself, Brenda! The glimmery shine and texture from the metallic embossed panel makes for a fabulous background to the twiggy wreath and delicate poinsettia .. this is so pretty! Hugs, Anita :)

Hi Brenda

Well done on combining your card into three challenges .. .. .. great take on all the themes.

Metallic card is always so difficult to photograph, but looks lovely in real life.

I am with you on the "common sense" regarding COVID. I feel we could do so much more if everyone applied some.

We are being treated to quite a bit of rain recently. But as you say we do need it (just not too much!).

Take care Brenda and stay safe.

Love Jules xx

We are such harsh critics to ourselves Brenda x.
I absolutely love this card. The colours and the design layout look amazing x. I love how the photo catches a little of the metallic shimmer at the bottom. This is such a pretty card and I even like the way you've done the sentiment...x

Hi Brenda, yes, always difficult to photo mirror and metal sheets but I always think they look so awesome embossed, so I am sure this looks gorgeous. The wreath is so pretty as well and that's a beautiful and striking geometric embossed pattern. Take care. Hope you get sunshine soon. Thanks for joining the fun at Let's Squash It!! Hugz

Brenda!!! [I feel like I should be using your full name, like Brenda Sue Lawrence - even if Sue isn't your middle name! LOL] Your card is fabulous! Fits beautifully in our CTS gallery, and in spite of our gloomy weather, has brought such sunshine to my morning! That little Pink Poinsettia was just waiting for the opportunity to be the Star of the show, wasn't she?
Well done, my friend - I, for one, hope you win all three challenges! xx

We are having the same weather, dark, dreary and rainy with a chilly wind. We were so rain deprived it's hard to complain but I hate cold. I like your card but it is hard to get a good photo of mirror paper. It looks like a soft rose color and the black banner looks good against it. I agree with the Covid cases going back up. I am back to staying in and keeping my distance, even with a mask. I went out, got sick and learned my lesson for now.

Great card, Brenda. I love that the shine came through on the background to let us know it was metallic. Sometimes the photo won't capture it without the reflection. Good for you for keeping up with Christmas cards too.

I love the rose gold background Brenda, the poinsettia and foliage is beautiful and I love the wreath also. I think it is a Beautiful card Brenda. Good for you entering challenges also.
We are in full lockdown except for essentials and exercise AND it's raining with high winds and pretty miserable, so glad it wasn't like this the last time we had full lockdown!

Keep safe and well

You are too hard on yourself Brenda - this is gorgeous, and must be even more so IRL!
YEs, a lot more common sense, and a lot less selfishness and self-centeredness would make life way more pleasant and slow down the spread of this ghastly disease!
Stay safe
Blessings

Don't be so hard on yourself! This is a beautiful card. Mirror anything is difficult to photograph. This card is original which makes it special. As for the weather, we live close enough that I agree it has been dismal weather wise. stay safe.

Hugs and Blessings,
Jim

This is a great take on the challenges and I for one just love how this turned out! The design is fantastic with the metallic embossed background and the golden wreath looks perfect with the flower and ferns! You can always put another sentiment on top of that one in white if you don't like black, but I think it looks quite lovely just the way it is! NJ! Stay warm, it's just miserable outside here today, blah!

I'm glad the camera caught some of the shine of the metallic embossing! Mirror card is especially hard to photograph! Love the wreath and poinsettia. Sometimes no sentiment is necessary! An awesome design, my friend!

I think your card is beautiful! The mirri card is stunning and you made a wonderful design!

Thanks for taking part in the October Rudolph Days Challenge.
We are getting tired of the pandemic too. Someone at my granddaughters' school attended school for three days while sick, and then tested positive. We are awaiting news if it someone Clare was in contact with. So far no further notice, but a message to keep checking emails while they contact trace.

We wear masks and do not go out to the store except for groceries. We visit with family outside on our patio and they are on the upper level and we are down three steps and about 12 feet away. Al golfs but does not touch anything, has his own golf cart, and only goes with the same three other fellows. Apart from our daily walks together, that is our boring life at the mo!

I think you must have been having a 'hard to please day' Brenda 'cos who doesn't like a bit of shine on a festive card and I like the modern look to this design. It's true that we are our own harshest critics. It's wet and gloomy here in England at the moment as we head into another full lockdown next week but las time we did it, we got some great weather to make it all bearable so I'm hoping for the best this time too.
I hope that you are still able to get together with friends from time to time in a safe way. Thank God for Zoom, I say lol!!!

Take care, my friend

I think your card is just fine! No need to change anything. Covid figures here rose quite substantially but seem to be going down again now that we’re in lockdown 2. Stay safe! Hugs Sue xx

I think your card was beautiful. The layout was great, and I love that Poinsettia wreath. The geometric design of the EF showed off well on the mirror cardstock, which is always hard to photo! Good job! TFS, Happy New Year, and Hugs too. MM
