A New Family Member, Wedding Cards, Nashville-long post!

Hello my crafty friends, I'm home from my trip, rested for a week or rested as much as I could with a new puppy in the house. What?!! Yes, a new puppy is in the house. How did that happen you ask? Well Bret called asking about rescuing a little mini Aussie. Well, I had to think long and hard on this one. But thought that it would be good for Kahlua to have someone besides Savannah to depend on and maybe Savannah would get a break from Kahlua. I also thought that when Bret is ready to move out, it would help Kahlua to have a buddy and wouldn't be so anxious about not being with Savannah, so I said I guess so. So meet Maverick. He is a sweet little laid back puppy and I think once he is out of the puppy stage he will be a great little dog. He isn't a grouchy old man like Kahlua is a grouchy old lady. lol He isn't anxious like she is either. So that is a good thing, maybe he will rub off on Kahlua! Savannah has become a little mother to him as well. Meet Maverick!

Now shock of all shocks I have a couple of wedding cards to share. I did a print and cut with my Cricut for my images as well as the sentiments. A little embossing and a little bit of pearls and before you know it, a couple of wedding cards.

Trying to catch the shimmer of the Nuvo glitter brush.

My trip was wonderful, exhausting but wonderful! We started out a few days in Pigeon Forge, took in a show which was so fun as they did music from the 40's forward. Then we headed to Nashville. I had in my head a whole different view of what I thought Nashville would be, after that culture shock, I enjoyed the city very much. Lower Broadway was very loud as there were live bands playing in every honky tonk, but it was fun hearing them all. One thing I found very funny-I'm a country bumpkin, so I've never seen anything like this before-was this little contraction. A Petal Tavern! I laughed and laughed at it and the people on it. It looked like fun, although I don't think I would be drinking what they were drinking. lol You pay $40 to ride this thing, you have to bring your own booze and you have to work to peddle it, there is a driver that steers it, but it runs by the people peddling it. Very popular in Nashville as well as Memphis! I'm sure in other places as well. We toured the town by a "hip hop" bus and had a great driver as well as tour guide. She had lots of stories since she has lived in Nashville her whole life and worked as a tour person for all the stars that came and recorded in the city. When she was a little girl, she was at her grandmother's house when her ball rolled across the street to a recording studio. Who was there you ask? Well none other than Elvis Presley! He picked up her ball and gave it back to her. Then one day, her grandmother was out tending her tomatoes in the front of the house, when Elvis walked by. Started talking to the grandmother about her tomatoes and they became good friends! Whenever Elvis was in town, he ate at her grandmother's house! How cool is that! Our tour guide was with so many famous people taking them around the city and such. Many rock groups that lots would recognize. I think she was a bit wild when she was younger, but as an older lady, she sure did make the tour around the city fun. Did you know that Nashville didn't start out as a country music place? It started out as a Rhythm and Blues town! Now you know the rest of the story. lol All music comes through Nashville for the most part. So doesn't matter if it is country music, rock music, etc....It all gets recorded in Nashville. We went to the Sun Studio's (opps, Sun Studio's is in Memphis!) where Elvis made his first record for his Mama, "That's Alright Mama". We went to the Picker's store-if anyone watches Frank and Mike. Went to the Grand Ole Opry-which was amazing and thrilling. Saw a man who did Elvis songs, he didn't look like Elvis but he sure did sing and move like Elvis did! We also went to the George Jones Museum and saw the infamous lawn mower where he got his DUI on.  We also went to Madame Tussauds, which was pretty neat. So many other things to share about Nashville, but since this post is a long one, I will stop here and share some photos. Next time I will tell about Memphis and as you know, it will be mostly about Elvis. lol

Isn't this just the funniest thing?!

The Picker's building/store

George Jones' lawn mower that he got his DUI on

 The Grand Ole Opry doors!

Madame Tussauds Wax Museum-all the kids today think Ozzie is a new band. lol

As always I want to thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to stop by and visit little ole me. You all are just the best and I want you to know how much I value you all and how much sunshine you all bring into my life. I know I've not been great at getting around visiting you all, but I am trying to get in some commenting. Life is busy, especially now with this new little fella-lots of potty outings! And then the other two girls. They keep me hopping! But I will try to get around for some posts.

Crafty hugs,

Oh gosh Brenda, what a great post today! Filled with a beautiful new puppy, wonderful wedding cards, and memories of your trip in photos! I almost feel as if I relived my trip there years ago! That pedal tavern is hilarious and I've seen it on tv, but $40 bucks a ride? Um, I'll pass :) Love the tour guides stories of Elvis encounters - how fun is that? Maverick is just beautiful and I can understand why Bret felt the need to rescue that sweet pup! I'd have said yes too - just look at that face! Adorable! LoL about the Ozzie wax figure and kids thinking it's a new band today! The one of Allan Jackson wasn't there when we visited, but it's a great likeness of him! TFS the fun stories and photos - and those cards are all lovely BTW. Welcome home and welcome back to real life LOL

What a fantastic journey you have had, Brenda!! Thanks for taking us along, and sharing these fun stories - I didn't know that you were such an Elvis fan... well who couldn't love him, right? I have two country idols: Keith Urban, and Vince Gill. Keith is still on my wish-list, Vince I've seen 4 times - the first time? at the Grand Ole Opry when I was in Nashville on business!
Welcome to our world, Maverick - he is so cute! xx

Oh, my, where to start, Brenda! It has to be Maverick! What a gorgeous clear-eyed smart-looking handsome pup he is! I'm sure you instantly fell in love with him and I can see why Bret couldn't resist! You really will have your hands full now with three dogs, girl, so please, please, please be careful that they don't get underfoot and knock you down!

Your wedding cards are spectacular! You sure haven't lost your talent being away for a while!

Thank you for sharing the stories and the photos in this part one of your travelogue! I'm so delighted you had a great time!! I went to Nashville with a friend and loved everything about it. The GOO is so full of wonderful history and the people were so nice. Lots of hugs, Auntie
