A Peony Birthday

Hello my crafty friends, I hope this Friday finds you all well and ready for a fun weekend. The weeks are zooming by aren't they?! Been warm here, but that makes pool time so much better. At least until the water gets to warm. lol But it loses heat at night, so it is the perfect temp to me. So I plan on enjoying some pool time this week too.

My card for today resulted in just some playing around. I took this Altenew stamp set, Peony Bouquet and practiced stamping some flowers in different colors on to mixed media paper. I got better at getting it lined up, so I have some pretty flowers to use to make cards with. I took this one and decided to try and mask it to add the leaves. Didn't do a great job on the leaves, but decided to just go with it anyway. Didn't care for it with just the leaves, but didn't want to throw it away either, so decided to add a bud. I colored the stem of the bud in with a Zig Clean Color Brush marker so it would be orange. Added a negative cut out snippet to frame it out, I cut out part of the bud and part of the leaf to over hang the frame which I like. Die cut my happy from a snippet of black paper and then stamped "birthday". Mounting the whole thing on a black layer and then on to my card base. Overall I'm pretty happy at how it turned out.

Thanks for stopping by, you know I always love it when you come and sit a spell with me! Your comments bring so much sunshine into my life and make me smile from ear to ear!! Hope to be by your blog soon.

I love how you stamped this pretty flower, and especially how the leaf, bloom and sentiment are spilling out of the frame! The stitched edges make the greatest framework, and those tiny sequins add just the right amount of sparkle! Stay cool today - it's going to be sweltering here!

I think this is gorgeous! It has a natural look. I love the way the bud id over the frame. Makes it look real. Really stunning!
To answer your question - I got my marquee lights at Hobby Lobby. They are Heidi Swapp, but the 24 set. I just made do with what I had.
Michaels or JoAnn's may have the smaller sets. Hobby Lobby is 10 minutes from me and the others are 40 minutes away.

Brenda this is stunning! I just love it! Some beautiful flowers here and you are going to have a gorgeous collection of them if you continue to just "play" hehe. I am glad that you are getting some pool time in. With this heat and humidity, you need to be in a pool if you are outdoors! I only wish I lived a bit closer, I'd come swim with ya and craft with ya! Let's make a play date soon k?
Hugs,

This is so fresh and lovely, Brenda! The colors are so summery, and I really like the addition of the bud. Isn't it funny how our ideas change as we actually begin to put the card together? Thank goodness, though, because then we end up with beautiful creations like this one. Love it! Hope you're having a wonderful weekend. Hugs!

Hi Bredna,
sent you an email to your addy from 2012. Hoping the addy is still good. Love the card, the way the leave and flower pop out of the frame is awesome. Great job!!
Enjoy the pool and the warm weather as it will be gone before we know it.

Thank you huni! I know you are there cheering me on even when I'm having awful weeks or months. Big hugs sweetie for making me smile tonight as I've been so down with the heat, the fibro and my RA right now. I hate these blooming awful diseases and wish they could find a cure for all of us.
Now your card - oh my I think I have to have this Altenew set, it's so beautiful how you've used it - just awesome art Karen xx

Oh my STARS!! Your peony is absolutely gorgeous, Brenda! I especially LOVE the orange, I colour I need to work with more often (Halloween on the horizon *grin*). My Peony Bouquet set is still awaiting a play date...you've certainly given me incentive to bring it out! Wish I lived closer; I'd invite myself over for some lounging by the pool with you...we could chit-chat for hour!
