Dog Days of Summer-BBTB2 Challenge

Hello my crafty friends, I hope that you are off to a great start to your Monday. We had a full and very busy weekend, one that left me a little out of commission come Sunday. Not sure what is up with my back, but I sat with the heating pad on it most of Sunday. I felt it starting on Saturday but our granddaughter was here and she was busy thus keeping grandma busy too. lol I could feel it in my left kidney first and around my lower back. Sure enough, I was having problems moving when I got up on Sunday. Hoping today will be a better day so I can get some things done that wasn't done over the weekend. Cause I set aside those days for the granddaughter and boy did she have lots of fun! We ran errands on Friday, then came home and made supper. Watched the movie Frozen and had ice cream. Got in the hot tub and then showered and got her into bed. That lasted for about 30 seconds before she was back out and wanted grandma to lay with her so I did. She was out fast! Then at 3:30 am she woke up to find that grandma wasn't in bed with her any more and came into our bedroom taping me and saying "come on". So I went with her and finished out the night in bed with her. lol Saturday was busy, busy, busy. We made crumb cake first thing in the morning. Then Papaw made breakfast. After cleaning up from that we went outside. We blew bubbles, drew with chalk, got in the pool, got in the hot tub, went up to the farm a dozen or more times, went for 4 wheeler rides, rode in the combine to harvest the wheat, watch the guys bale and unload some straw and then came home to make supper. Oh and we made another crumb cake, one for her to take home and one for Papaw and UB (Uncle Bret). After snack of crumb cake, and that was holding her off as long as I could, she went home with her sister, mommy and daddy. Papaw and Grandma was two tired puppies but for different reasons. lol  But it was a good tired, now if only the back would hold up longer! I guess I will be discussing that with the doc on Tues.

I guess I'd better get onto the reason for this post!! It is Monday and you know that it is time BBTB2 challenge. I wasn't really up for a challenge since it was a busy weekend and I didn't get anything done during the week. But I did have a project that I did but had never been blogged about and some of it fit the challenge, so even though I didn't do this new, it has never been seen before. I started a little 6 x 6 album for one of our granddaughters. Which one, I wasn't sure, but think now it will go to our newest granddaughter. It's nothing fancy, just plain really, but I think it is kinda cute. I was doing all the "firsts"-first outing, first Halloween, first Christmas, etc..So on the Halloween page I used a dog from Paper Pups Cricut Cart and since our sweet design team Sharon gave us the challenge of using a dog on a project this worked!! Her challenge was "Dog Days of Summer", to use a dog on a project. Mine of course is a double page spread. Like I said nothing fancy, really just plain as there isn't much room on a 6 x 6 page. I also used Doodlecharms for the spiders. The BBTB2 DT has lots of inspiration for you so go have a look see and then link up your dog projects with us!  As always thanks for stopping by to visit for a spell and for listening to me ramble on! I tend to do that I know, but when it comes to the grands, I can't help it. I also wanted to tell you how much I appreciate all the support and awesome comments you all always leave me. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would have even one follower, must less all the ones I have! So thank you for all your support!!! Crafty hugs, Brenda

My back hurts just reading about all the things you did over the weekend! I do hope you get to feeling better. It's hard to do things with a sore back. Your book is so cute. Your granddaughter will love it.

So happy you had a good time with the grand. Know that was good for the both of you, even if you were pooped when she left to go home. It sounds like you were busy having such fun. Hope your back is feeling a bit better today after you had a chance to relax & baby it a mite. I think your album is really cute, and I like these images you have on the pages, ready to put in the cute snaps of all the 'firsts'. She will adore it. A labor of love. TFS & Hugs. TLC now!MM

Grand kids keep you young, that is, if you can keep up with them. How nice. Cute layout, perfect for a smaller album. Hope the back is better soon. Maybe some scrapping therapy is in order.

I'm glad you had this sweet album layout to post, Brenda, and I do hope your back is better by now! It really is awful when it happens, but goodness, your little muffin sure kept you hopping, didn't she?!! How fun!!

And speaking of fun, it was fun to catch up! Seems like forever since I've been around. Your "leaving" pages for your college-bound boy are so awesome. Seriously, you are the best mom and grandmom ever!! Take a teasy now! Hugs, Darnell

Goodness gracious, Brenda - I was played out just reading about your excursions with your grand-daughter, never mind actually doing them! You are an incredible grandma, spending time creating memories with her! I can just picture the joy all over her face, enjoying these special events; everything from baking crumb cake (I can't remember the last time I ate crumb cake. Must add to the list!), to watching Frozen (isn't that a fun movie!!), to 'hanging out', bonding with her. Ultra fabulous, heart-warming and heart-melting! Your dedication to her when she visits mirrors mine when I'm with my niece and nephew: it is ALL about them! As for your back: fingers crossed it's feeling better! Be sure to spoil and pamper yourself for a while until it settles down. Your pages here: so darn cute!! Love that you're keeping track of "firsts"! Hugs to you, super grandma - and one for super grandpaw, too!

Hiya Brenda, huge apologies for such a long time no visit but I know you understand.
I really hope you back has eased now huni - sounds painful and so debilitating. I've often said to my DH I wouldn't wish back pain on any one, well maybe those peeps that are really evil but not on anyone else lol! Lack of sleep has got me going off on a tangent.
It is a very cute project - love the witchy dog - so cute!
Whilst I remember I wanted to say a huge thank you too - you are like my one person cheer squad - always leaving me lovely and flattering on my creations - you really cheer up my day.
I hope you have a good weekend and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that yours will be pain free too Karen xx

Hello, my sweet friend - we're just back from my husband's crit race - and he finished in one piece! Yayyy...tomorrow, a tough race - and me once again the feed zone, water bottles in tow. The pro cyclists are racing the crit shortly, so we'll be heading out soon, but I had to pop in to say: your comments always, always put a song in my heart! I wish we lived closer too...oh, the shenanigans we'd get into...Hugs by the bushels' full ~c
