Over the Hill???

Hi my crafty friends!  It is Monday and you know what that means, it's time for another post for BBTB2!!  And this week we our theme from design sister Stephanie is "birthday's and pearls" using any cart and making any project.  What to do, what to do.  I thought about doing a cake card, but decided against it.  I struggled up to Saturday morning trying to figure out what I wanted to do.  In the end I decided since my DH will be 50 in January that I would get his card made for him.  Now I am 2 years and 8 months older than he is and he is always calling me an "old fart".  But soon he will be an "old buzzard". lol  So with that in mind I made a long base measuring 4.25" x 11" on my Gypsy as a template.  Then I created another 4.25" x 9.50" block and welded the buzzard from Life's A Party on it to make it a 4.25 x 11 card base using the base that I made 4.25 x 11 so I would know where to stop with my buzzard.  Clear as mud?? She's A Sassy lady has a tutorial over on her blog that you can check out. She call this type of card an A2-Long, go and check it out. I wanted my card to have the shape of the buzzard on the end of it instead of it being the whole card.  I cut my layers for the buzzard and assembled him.  I tell you this buzzard kicked my old butt!  I had a heck of a time trying to figure out how his eyes went with the pieces I had.  In the end I figured it out but already messed up putting him together.  So after my second try, I left it as he was.  I will now for next time.  I guess I was having a lupus fog moment at the time or just a plain ole "duh" moment. lol  I used DCWV Natural stack for my card base and scraps from my scraps bin for the layers.  My sentiment on the outside was a birthday set from My Creative Time stamps and the inside sentiment came from a birthday set from Fiscars that I got a JoAnn's. I used liquid pearl to dress up my buzzard and I also used tiny black pearls for his nostril holes. I hope you like my little buzzard, I had a lot of fun making him.  I hope that you will come join us at BBTB2's newest challenge.  Check out the rest of my design teams sisters and see what wonderful inspirations they have for you!!

Brenda, I absolutely love this buzzard! Love his eyes! My brother's 50th birthday is coming up in August. I had seen this cute guy in the book. I can't wait to cut him out for him. Thanks for reminding me! Great job my friend, I know your husband will love it!

Oh Brenda, this card is just fantastic. Perfect cut for someone turning 50. My husband probably wouldn't like me referring to him as the "old buzzard" though. We seem to have a lot in common. My husband is younger than me, too and imagine my surprise when you said you had lupus. I have lupus, too. I have lots of those "lupus brain" moments. What can you do, but laugh about it. Make sure you put that card somewhere and don't forget where, making it so far in advance. That would be another lupus moment. LOL

Oh my goodness Jeri I didn't know that you had Lupus too! Yes, we have to laugh in order to carry on because I don't know about you, but if I didn't I would feel like I am losing my mind. lol It's always better to laugh, that's what keeps us going. Yes, I am afraid that I will put this darn card somewhere and forget about it. lol Wish me luck! Hugs my friend.
