Update on Hubby-Warning Incision pic

Hello my crafty friends, I just wanted to give an update on my husband. We went to the surgeon's office today and he took out Dwayne's staples. Dwayne said it feels so much better with those dang staples out. Doc is pleased at how well Dwayne is doing  and told him that he could drive in about a week. No driving in the tractor or combine in the fields though. On Nov. 11th he can return to light duty at work. Light duty means no pulling, pushing or lifting anything over 10 lbs. Our appointment was also made for the cancer doctor today for next Thursday. I am ready to get going on this because I don't want to give that cancer to much time to grow. Our doctor recommended a cancer doctor that he would send his own family to. So that is a good thing. Dwayne has a wonderful outlook on this and is very confident that all will be fine. He has promised me that he isn't going anyway. I needed to hear that and pray that is the way it will go. So that is about it for now. Will give updates as we get started on this newest journey. I hope to get crafty some too. Dwayne has already told me to go to the card club on Monday. I think I will as I feel confident that he will  be good to go without me for a couple of hours. Thank you to all for your prayers, keep praying cause it is working!!! Love and hugs to you all-Brenda

Pic of the staples and yes folks, it goes even lower! Nice to have them gone!!!

Still Here

Hello my friends, just wanted to stop in quickly and let you know why I have been MIA. Last Monday my husband went for a colonoscopy and we were told he had colon cancer. My husband isn't even 51 yet so to say it was a huge blow to up is an understatement. He had an infection and the tumor had his colon was almost completely block. The doctor could only see 12 inches of his colon because of the tumor, his camera wouldn't fit through because of the tumor. So this became an emergency. Doc sent him to do a cat scan, he had to drink some kind of chalky drink and then they put the dye in too. Doc called me on Tuesday while I was making super. He said the tumor had ruptured on top of everything and the cancer was on his spleen as well. So we were to come into his office to talk to him and then go directly to the hospital as he would have all the necessary paper work to admit him. He had to start him on heavy duty antibiotics to help rid the infection because he wanted to do surgery on Friday. Thus our journey began. After surgery doc spoke to me and some of our boys and told us that the bubble that the tumor ruptured in also ruptured and the cancer cells spilled out into his belly and that there was another "spot" of cancer in his colon. I haven't left hubby's side much. I am able to stay with him as our hospital has gone to all private rooms and you are allowed to stay with your spouse. Friday the doc did tell me to go home and sleep at home while hubby was in the Critical Care Unit for the night and the nurse told me to go home too to take care of myself. Well as you can imagine I really didn't want to go, could have stayed, but took their advice. And now I am home tonight as doc "fussed" me again this morning as I haven't left hubby's side since except when our kids drug me out to eat. It was hard to eat let me tell you. But hubby has done so well and doc was going to release him tomorrow. But today hubby had a little set back and now I'm not sure if he will get to still come home or not. Tomorrow will tell. So to say it has been a fast, whirl-wind week is an understatement. Most days I'm not even sure of the day. I wanted to let you all know why I haven't been posting and to ask for prayers. Doc said we are probably looking at life time chemo. That is fine, I don't care just as long as hubby can live a nice long life with me, our children and grandchildren. Thank you to all out there that already know this and have been praying for him. Thank you to those who will pray after reading this. I so believe in the power of prayer. We still have hope, so I'm holding on tight to that! We have been blessed and has had  wonderful support from our children, our friends and my on-line crafting friends. The out pouring of love has been so over whelming and touches my heart as did all the offers of help to get the crops in or anything else that we may need done. So my crafty friends, I will be gone for a little while longer to take care of the love of my life. I may be able to get some crafty time in and of course will post when I can. But my main focus will be on my dear husband. Love to all-Brenda

It's Fall Y'all!-BBTB2 Challenge

Hello my crafty friends, I hope this Monday finds you all well. As you know if it is Monday then it is time for another BBTB2 challenge. Our fabulous and multi-talented leader Susan gave us the challenge of using the leaf off of the CTMH Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge or any other leaf if you don't have the AP cart. Will browsing Pinterest one day I saw a unique gate fold card and thought that I would like to try that technique. I took some photo paper and inked up my felt using acohol ink and inked up my paper. Then I dusted off my Cuttlebug leaf die and cut out my "flaps" in my gate fold card. Then I de-embossed my leaf-why debossed? Because I had to turn my leave over to fit the "frame" leaf or it would have been backwards because of the way you have to die cut the base card.  Next I put the rest of the paper in my Cricut and cut out different sized leaves using the AP cartridge. I added some gold stickles on all my leaves, some burgundy drops on the card base and some of last years fall paper that were smaller snippets from my scrap drawer except the card base. And this is what I came up with. Different, but I kinda like it! Want some more inspiration? Go to BBTB2 and check out what my fabulous design team sisters had for you, I assure you, you won't be disappointed!! Then why not join us in this challenge, you know we love it when you get crafty with us! Crafty hugs, Brenda

Letter Frame

Hello my crafty friends! No your eyes aren't deceiving you, I have a post for Sunday. lol Normally I don't post on the weekends. It was one of my DIL's birthday on Thursday so I had my son, DIL and grand-daughters over for supper Friday night for her birthday.  For the ones that live locally I have them over to have a birthday meal and of course cake of their choice. My DIL's loves chicken corn soup (quiet a few of them do) so I made the soup with her favorite-crumb cake. We didn't enjoy the soup so much as it was almost 90 degrees. Unheard of in Oct! So we ate it anyway. lol I made a frame for her and let me tell you this turned out to be a pita! Not because it was hard or anything but because first off I got a floating frame from Hobby Lobby and it wasn't at all what I thought it was going to be. I should have saved myself the money because most it ended up in the trash. It was a cheap pull apart frame, the glass and then what I thought would be a second glass turned out to be a piece of plastic that scratched as soon as you cleaned it. Then there was this large clear plastic piece that was to hang it on the back. So it wouldn't lay flat to the wall and you had to have a piece of paper in it anyway to hide the hanger, thus to me not making it a floating frame. So I kept the glass and threw the rest away. Fortunately I had a another frame in my stash and ended up using that instead. My next pita was trying to keep the dust/lint off of the inside glass before hot gluing it in back of the front glass. I still had a speck of lint or something after having it put all together. Oh well, I tried. I live out in the country and with DH combining that throws the dust around and don't ask me how but it always gets in the house even though I had the windows and doors closed and the ac on. lol Anyway here it is in all it's glory. I hope she liked it, I'm not really sure. All she said was, "Josh where are we going to hang this." lol I think she didn't like that it was "see through".  So my thought was that I would make the other DIL's one too, but now I'm not so sure. Let me know your thoughts, do you think I should make for the other DIL's? Would you like this if your MIL gave you one?? I have all boys and no girls so I just assumed she would like it, now I'm second guessing myself.  As always thanks for stopping by and visiting me!! Have a great Sunday, going to be another hot one here and then we will go back to being in the 70's again, more normal temps for this time of year. Crafty hugs-Brenda

Ghostly Greetings-Jo's Funday Friday Challenge #20

Hi my crafty friends, hope you all are having a wonderful TGIF!! This is my second post for today, so if you are looking for my SOUS challenge, scroll down a post. So you know if it is Friday then it is time for another Funday Friday at Jo's Scrap Shack! Today our challenge was to use this sketch:

I really loved this sketch, this would be a great sketch to use on a layout as well. My card is a 5.5 x 5.5. I used "snippets" of papers to build my card layers. I also used the Stitched Postage Frame die, the Stitched Spooky Ghost die and Fright Night from My Creative Time. I heat embossed my "boo" with SU white embossing powder. This was a fast and easy card to make but I think it came out so cute!! Please go over to Jo's Scrap Shack to see what inspiration my design team sisters have for you. Jo is moving so she is a busy girl right now and you might not see as many projects as this was a "if you want to" challenge because of Jo's move, but rest assured there are some inspirational projects!! While there check out our sponsor and then why not use this sketch to create a project of your own and link up with us? We love when you play along with us!! I hope you all have a crafty weekend and as always thank you so much for stopping by today! Crafty hugs!

Hocus Pocus-SOUS

Hello my crafty friends, I hope you are having a fabulous Friday! Today is a new die cut challenge over at SOUS. Our theme is Hocus Pocus. I have to tell you that this one kinda threw me a bit. I had no clue as what to do. lol But then looking at my stamps, I saw this one that said "you cast a spell on me" and that got me rolling. I used A Child's Year and Elegant Edges for my cuts. I did a twisted easel card. Love the easel cards!!  My moon is just a punched circle that I used chalks on. My inside shape is from My Creative Time, Stitched XL Label Die and the shadow XL Label Die.  The sentiments are from My Creative Time as well, Fight Night is the name of the set.  I hope you go check out my Design Team Sister's projects, they have some awesome inspiration for you!! Then join us by linking up with us at SOUS! Thanks for stopping by today!! I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!
