My Hero
Hello my crafty friends, happy TGIF to you all! As you know if it is Friday then it is time for a Jo's Funday Friday challenge. We were ask to design a project that is patriotic. Well for me I decided to do a layout for my oldest soldier son. He is deployed all the time (it seems like) and I am keeping an album for him and myself to give to his children when they are older or I die, which ever comes first. Currently he is on his 5th deployment. For this layout I used all papers and embellishments from my stash. The company that I got a lot of it from isn't in business anymore and oh how I miss them. I also used my Cricut cartridges Opposites Attract and Fabulous Finds. I hope you will go over to Jo's Scrap Shack and see what inspiration my design team sisters have for you and then I hope you read the rules and join us by linking up with a project. We love when you get crafty with us!

Anything Goes! My Paper Crafting Challenge
Hello my crafty friends, hope you all are doing well this hump day. I'm sad to say that this is my last day to create over at My Paper Crafting. Summer takes up a lot of my time with mowing grass, trimming brushes, running the hubby to and fro between fields, etc...I don't craft as much during the summer as I do in the fall/winter. So I am going to miss all the gals at My Paper Crafting. Melin has been a wonderful hostess and is incredibly talented. I sure hope you will continue to follow her and see what all she is coming up with next!! Her digi's and cut files are amazing and so fun to work with. So with that said, I am hoping to one day be back designing with her and her wonderful team!! Thanks for a wonderful 6 months Melin, I had a blast designing for you!!
Now on to my card. Our challenge today is anything goes. So since it is so close to July, I thought I would do a patriotic card. I used my Cuttlebug with the Stars folder and the Diamond Plate folder for my background, ribbon to make my flag, Viva Decor Pearls for the "stars" on the flag, the pole is just a piece of scrap kraft paper and my USA is from the Cricut cart Base Camp. I saw this card on Pinterest I think. lol Not really sure, but I can tell you that I lifted it from somewhere. Thought it was so cute to make a flag from ribbon! I hope you will go over to My Paper Crafting and check out what else goes with my design team sisters! I am still on a couple other design teams so I will still have projects coming, just not quite as often over the summer. So enjoy your summer like I intend to enjoy mine! Before we know it, old man winter will be back and I will be house bound once again. Yes, I tend to hibernate in the winter. lol So I gotta enjoy the great outdoors while I can. Happy Crafting!

Cuddly Critters-Jo's Funday Friday
Hello crafty friends, happy TGIF to you all!! Since it is Friday that means that it is time for a new challenge over at Jo's Scrap Shack. Our theme for this week is Cuddly Critters. Lawn Fawn is the sponsor as well!!! How exciting is that!! If you have any Lawn Fawn stamps, dies, etc...please us them in your project should you decided to link up with Jo's Funday Friday. I don't have any I'm sad to say. But I used punches to make my card. This card is totally lifted from Pinterest. I'm a please with how it came out and it went together fairly quick. My card base is 5x5. The papers I used are all from my scrap bin. I used embossing folders as you can see. I embossed my little lamb pieces, only the white ones with the Divine Swirls. I used 2 scallop punches for the body, the head was punched with a small oval, cut in half. The ears is a 1/2 circle punch, cut in half. My eyes are the same size punch for both the white and the black. You will need 2 white tiny circles, and 1 black tiny circle cut in 1/2. I forget what size this circle was, but it is a SU punch, tiny circle. The legs is the Modern Label punch, cut in 1/2 and thinned out some. The "wool" on the head is two little flowers from an SU punch as well. I popped up the smaller scallop. I also cut out some of the embossing embossed on white paper. I added some "candy" adhesive dots that are new from SU. I used my MS punch and punched a border for the bottom and stamped my sentiment on that. Welcome Baby is a sentiment from My Creative Time. Added a bow and called it done! Pretty cute huh?!

At the time that this video was taken, Baby Mason was still in the hospital fighting for his life.

You Make Life Sweeter! BBTB2 Challenge
Hello my crafty friends, Happy Monday to you! Today at BBTB2 our own sweet and talented Stephanie gave us the challenge of "summer foods", so come and get it! We can use any Cricut cartridge and make any project. I chose the Popsicle for my summer food. I made an A2 size card, for my mat I used some paper from my scrap stash that came from a DCWV stack, my popsicles came from the Imagine cartridge Yummy. I added some seam binding that I had dye that was in my stash and tied a bow around the mat. Added some tiny Favorite Findings buttons and my PTI sentiment. Then took some glossy accents and placed on the recessed areas of the popsicles to look like they were melting some. And that is it, I called it done. I hope you will go check out all the awesome summer foods projects that my design team sisters have for you at BBTB2, you will find lots of inspiration there! Then why not get crafty with us and link up your summer food project?!! We always love it when you get crafty with us!

Another Recipe
Hello my crafty friends, I hope you are enjoying a pleasant Sunday with your father's. We had a lovely day with the kids and grand-kids stopping by for the ones that live around us. The other's called to wish their Dad a happy day except for our son who is deployed. He doesn't always have access to contact us, but I hope he was able to call home to his children so they could tell him Happy Father's Day. So on our married guys I usually make them a yummy and give them a card for Father's Day. So for my #2 son I gave him one of his favorite desserts and that is tandy cake. He loves peanut butter and chocolate together. Who doesn't right?! lol So one of the things I used to make all the boys when they were home was tandy cakes. Just like the hostess cakes-remember their tandy cakes?? Well mine are along the same lines of them. Here's a picture of them after I spread the chocolate on top:
And here is my my son digging in to them (see the cutie beside him, yep that's my grand-daughter):
And here is my DIL and my other cutie grand-daughter getting fed ice cream by her Pap-paw, she is a bird I tell you:
Sorry I didn't get a picture of the cake after it was taken out of the pan, we all were to busy eating it. lol But here is the recipe if you want to try it for yourself.
Tandy Cake
You will want to bake this in a jelly roll pan at 350 degrees for 25 minutes
4 eggs
2 cups sugar
2 tsp. oil
1 tsp. baking powder
1 cup milk
2 cups flour
peanut better
melting chocolate
Mix all ingredients together and place in a greased jelly roll pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Take from oven and immediately spread peanut butter on top of the hot cake. I don't have a measurement for this, I just plop it on there and spread it around.
Let the cake and peanut butter cool completely. Then once cooled melt chocolate and spread over the top of the peanut butter. Once again I don't measure, I just plop it on and spread it around.
After the chocolate has set up you can slice into bars and enjoy. Very simple and easy recipe to make.
Thanks for stopping by and thank you for the lovely comments! Come back tomorrow for a sweet post for BBTB2! Until then....crafty hugs!

Jo's Funday Friday
Hello my crafty friends, this is my second post for today so if you are looking for SOUS it is the next post down. Every Friday Jo at Jo's Scrap Shack has a new challenge. Today the challenge is "anything goes". It was nice to play just with my embossing folders for one and that is what my card is about. I didn't use anything but embossing folders on my card and ribbon. The "forever & always" is a Sizzex folder and the the dots is the Cuddlebug "swiss dots". The ribbon was in my stash, the double bow was tied with the Bow Easy, I think that is what it is called. lol The pearls were made using a Viva Decor Pearl Pen. And that's it folks. Simple, but elegant I think. I hope you have enjoyed it too. Now go over to Jo's Scrap Shack and check out the inspiration my design team sisters have for you and then create a project and link up with us! We love when you all get crafty with us! Thanks for stopping by today and as always thanks for the lovely comments!
My First SOUS Challenge!
Hi my crafty friends! Happy Friday to you all!! Today is my first challenge with the SOUS die cut team and our challenge is "Here Comes the Sun". My card base is a 5 x 7, I used my Wild Card Cricut cartridge to cut out these trees and hammock. The person in the hammock doesn't have any clothes and I didn't like that. When I cut it out it look like the guy/gal was naked. lol So using my Spectrum Noir markers I gave him/her a pair of shorts and a shirt, now I think he/she looks much better! I used scraps from my scrap bin to cut all the layers. For my background, I embossed the blue with a SU cloud embossing folder but didn't photograph it well. It looks much better in person. I layered my images on pop dots to give dimension to the card. My sentiment on the front of the card came from My Creative Time and the inside sentiment was made using My Creative Time letter stamps. I thought this image from Wild Card 2 would make a great retirement card so that is what it became. Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you will go over to SOUS and check out what my design team sisters have done with this challenge and then I hope you will decided to play along with us. We so love when you get crafty with us!

Dear O'l Dad!-My Paper Crafting Challenge
Hello my crafty friends, Happy hump day to you all! Today at My Paper Crafting we are celebrating dear o'l dad! My card is very simple and basic, but is perfect for that no frills kind of dad. I used the Father's Day Cricut cartridge and welded 2 of the ovals together on my Gypsy to make my card base. Then cut it out of paper from DCWV The Guy Stack. I used plain black paper to cut out the "happy father's day" layer and dressed it up a little by using my white gel pen and put black pearls on with my Viva Decor pearl pen hopefully to make it look like it was attached with a rivet or something to that effect. That's it. Simple huh?! So see more inspiration go over to My Paper Crafting and see what my design team sister had made, you will be amazed at the talented projects for dad!! Thanks for stopping by today and thanks for the lovely comments! Enjoy the rest of your week!

With a Cherry On Top! BBTB2 Challenge
Hello my crafty friends, hope you have a nice and relaxing weekend. Since it's Monday that means it is time for a new BBTB2 challenge!! Our sweet and talented Shelly gave us the theme of "From the Kitchen", so we can make any project as long as we use a kitchen cart. I chose to use Wild Card for my card base and Kate's Kitchen Imagine cartridge for my cherry and papers. I cut the cherry out in all it's layers and pop dotted them up. My sentiment comes from My Creative Time as well as the banner die I used and I inked up everything using Tim Holtz Vintage Photo. Some red seam binding that I won and I call it done. So please go over to BBTB2 and see what other inspiration my design team sisters have for you then read the rules on the side bar and come get crafty with us! We so love it when you do!! Thanks as always for stopping by today, until next time....crafty hugs-Brenda

Here Comes the Sun! MPC Challenge
Hello crafty friends! I have to tell you that my mind is lost. lol Spring is always so busy and since my hubby is a farmer on the side, I have all the lawn care to do. I've had to mow every other day since April and now the strawberries are coming in as well, so that means remembering to pick them. Well it seems that I'm remembering to pick the berries but can't remember to post my challenge posts! Yes, Wednesday was a new challenge at My Paper Crafting and do you think that I wrote my post to have scheduled? Nope! And here it is Thursday night! I guess better late than never, right?! Our challenge was to use a Cricut cartridge that started with an "S". Yeah, didn't read that right either, I thought I was supposed to make a project using a die cut that started with "S". Yes folks I'm losing my mind!!! So here is my project using the Wild Cart 2 Cricut cart for my die cut of the sun. Sun does begin with "S" right?!!! It seems I've messed up everything else so I thought maybe I can't spell now too. lol I used my cloud embossing folder from SU, my grass punch from Fiscars, my daisy's are a SU punch and my butterfly is from a Martha Steward punch. My sentiment and banner is from My Creative Time. Thanks everyone for hanging in there with me and my dippy mind. And as always I love when you stop by and love the beautiful comments you always leave me! Crafty hugs, Brenda

Ladybug, Ladybug-BBTB2 Challenge
Hello my crafty friends, it is time for another BBTB2 challenge and our own sweet Susan picked our theme and it is the ladybug! Now who can resist the ladybug?! Not me!! lol Now we can make any project we like using any Cricut cartridge for our ladybug. So I am making scrapbooks for all of my grandchildren, once I pass on these books will be theirs to keep. So having 5 grand-daughters and one grand-son, this is quite a job. I have decided to make as many pages alike as I can. For today I used the new Cricut cartridge, The First Few Years. Love this cart!!! I mixed a few elements together from two layouts in the handbook, but all cuts are from the handbook. So here is my sweet Cadence, she is the third grand-daughter. I love to cuddle the babies especially my grandbabies, so that's why I went with "Cuddlebug". For the cuts I used the recommended sizes in the book except for my journaling box, that I made a little bit smaller. For my ladybugs, I used black Viva Pearls on them. I didn't add any inking, just kept it simple since I'm making so many of them. They all look alike except for the pictures. Now to make my grandson's. lol Now please go see what my design team sisters have made as well, you will find great inspiration from them. Then find a Cricut ladybug cut and join us! We love when you get crafty with us!!! Thanks for stopping by today and thanks for the lovely comments.

Cake, Strawberries and Whipped Cream!
Hello my crafty friends, hope that you all are having a wonderful weekend. I must say it is has been beautiful if not down right hot here. But that's ok because the pool is open and I had my first swim today!!
I was telling a friend about Hot Milk Cake. A few friends actually and they had never heard of hot milk cake, please tell me some of you out there know about hot milk cake!! lol We eat hot milk cake with fresh strawberries and whipped cream or if you are my husband he has milk instead of cream on his cake and strawberries. It is so good! Another friend told me to put the recipe and pictures up on my blog, so I though why the heck not?!

It is so good! Another friend told me to put the recipe and pictures up on my blog, so I though why the heck not?!
Cake:
Look good, huh?!
Cake, strawberries and whipped cream:
Sinfully delicious and yes I picked those lovely strawberries from my strawberry patch!
Wanna see more? Well look at the berries I picked this morning and mind you I ate a lot of them too. LOL
Recipe:
Hot Milk Cake
2 c. flour
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. butter-I use real butter
Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, eggs and vanilla together. In a small sauce pan heat slowly the butter and milk until scaled. Then slowly pour while mixing into the flour mixture. Mix well. For a denser cake don't beat very long, for a "fluffier" cake beat for a while. My husband likes it denser.
Place in a greased bunt pan and bake at 350 degrees for about 35 minutes or until your pick comes out clean. Cool, turn out and enjoy with some fresh strawberries or on it's own.
I hope you try this recipe out, it's a really easy cake to make and people usually fall in love with it! lol
So if you can stand it and me I will be sharing some more baking recipes from time to time. These are tried, true and tested on my family over the years and with 6 boys, let me tell you a lot of snacking went on in this house and still does!
See you all on Monday for another BBTB2 challenge! Crafty hugs!
