CAS Christmas Card Challenge

Hello my crafty friends, yes a second post! Trying to get some challenges in this weekend. And I also wanted to finish off my trip post of Waco. I really would like to get more Christmas cards made this year but will see how that goes. I'd also like to play in more challenges....again, we will see how that goes since my track record isn't to good.

So the CAS Christmas Card challenge for this month is using a tag on your card. Not sure if I'm stretching the tag thing or not here. But to me it is a tag....ish. lol This is an unbranded NBUS die and I had a piece of smooshed water color in my stash and used it to place behind. Remember stickles??? Well, I stickled this tag with an inch of it's life. lol I like it and I enjoyed using stickles again. Been a while. Did a little dry embossing as well for my background.  That's it....a very quick and CAS card for the challenge.

Wanted to share the last leg of our trip which was Waco, TX. Such a great place to go. So much to see and do. You have the Dr. Pepper Museum-we didn't get there though :-(, the TX Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum, the suspension bridge which I believe back in the day they drove long horn cattle over or something to that effect, Cameron Park Zoo-a beautiful park and zoo they say, and many other places to see and do as well as the Gain's Magnolia stuff which was amazing. We didn't get to do the other stuff, just the Magnolia stuff as we weren't there that long. I would have loved to have stayed longer. Maybe another time...So here are some photo's from this amazing place.

Clint's shop or used to be. Now it is a place to shop at. His house, remodeled by Chip and Jo, was next door as you will see in the next photo but because he got so famous from working with Chip and Joanna, they had to move to another home as they got no peace, same with his business.

Clint's old house that was remodeled by Chip and Joanne, Clint made the front door himself.

Jimmy Don's shopping area. We were supposed to met him, but he got held up. We were asked a question about him and I knew the answer, so I won a TX shaped metal piece with Waco cut out of it and a nice pretty stacked peddle metal flower that was a magnet. I couldn't believe it!

The truck that they sell Jimmy Don's metal signs out of.

Anyone remember the show where they found, moved and remodeled the "Shot Gun" house? This is it!

Down at Magnolia, boy did we have fun shopping and looking around there!

A view of the silo's from under the picnic area

 Rest and sweet tea time

Inside the bakery, oh boy were those cupcakes so yummy!!!

Last but not least, this is a house that Elvis Presley would stay at when he was at Fort Hood. At first we were told that he lived there, but this home was owned by a friend of his. Elvis would come and stay there or just visit. The owners would cook for Elvis and have cookouts as well. They even gave him his own room. The owner's daughter had a piano but Elvis kinda' took the piano over. lol  The family (the adult children) now rent it out as a tourist place to stay.

I hope you enjoyed seeing these photo's. There were so many other photo's but thought this was enough. lol We had such a wonderful time on this trip to Nashville, Memphis TN as well as Waco TX. These are places I would love to go to again some day. I would recommend any of these cities as there is much to do and see in all three of them. Each one was unique and just plain fun.

Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to visit me and see what I'm up to. I know two posts in a days time was a lot for me and I know I need to get to visiting myself and I hope to later on today. Have some chores I want to get to before the weekend is over and Bret is back at work and I have the dogs all day long till evening. But hope to get back to some of you tonight.

Crafty hugs,

  1. What an interesting trip you had, those are the sorts of sights and places of interest that we don't hear about here in the UK, we only hear about the big cities in America.
I love your card and yes, I don't just remember Stickles, I'm totally addicted to them and use them regularly!

  2. The ornament is just beautiful and so festive all stickled up! I still have lots of stickles and still use them frequently too! Love the embossing and watercolored piece too! Great photos of your trip, but unfortunately I don't know any of the folks you mentioned in the photos, like Clint? I guess I live under a rock :) So glad you took the opportunity to go and have some fun - you certainly deserve it :)

  4. What a great trip you had. Vacations are never long enough to do everything you want to do and see. That is a beautiful Christmas card and I'm with you, I'd like to get more done earlier in the year. I was thinking of you over the weekend when I saw all the snow PA got. I hope you aren't snowed in but if so, hope you are making cards!

  16. Your embossed tag-ish card is sensational, Brenda! So much depth and dementia and I love the blue/purple tones of the colors!

I had such fun looking at all your photos! I have seen every episode of Fixer Upper twice and would love to go there in person. What is the deal with the silos, though? I thought Joanna was fixing them up to be stores or something? That's too bad that Clint had to move his shop and family though.

    Enjoy the weekend! Hugs, Auntie

Second, I LOVE your pictures of your vacation. Definitely on my bucket list. My son and his wife drove from Virginia to San Diego to their new Navy station in October and this was one of their stops on the drive. My Daughter-in-love loves Chip & Jo! Thank you so much for sharing!
