Hello my crafty friends, Happy Monday to you all. I hope you are nice and warm where ever you are. It is snowing here and we are supposed to get 5 to 7 inches. So my world is nice and white. lol But I didn't ask you here to talk about the weather! As you know Monday's always bring a new challenge over at BBTB2. My sweet and talented design team sister, Sharon, is hosting this week and her challenge to us was to make a sympathy card. I don't know about you, but I tend to struggle with these types of cards. You don't want it to look all happy, but you don't want it to be sad either. You want it to be comforting to the person you are sending it to. I also always wait until I need a sympathy card so I was glad to see this challenge from Sharon because it will be nice to have some on hand in my stash. Of course we all wish we didn't have to make them but the simple fact of life is that we do need them. So after looking through Pinterest for some inspiration, I got started. I used the CTMH Cricut cartridge Art Philosophy for my "doily" looking mat. I then used My Creative Time stamps dies for my tree and sentiment. My little butterflies are a Studio G. And that's it. I kept it pretty simple. I'm not quite sure if I like it or not, but I don't hate it either. lol Need some more inspiration? Look no farther than my design team sisters, go to BBTB2and check out what they have for you. Then it is your turn, use your Cricut to make a sympathy card and link up with us! As always I want to thank you for taking time out of your busy life to visit me. Your sweet comments always warm my heart!! Crafty hugs, Brenda
This is just gorgeous, Brenda!! You did a fabulous job...sympathy cards are the hardest. This one is beautiful and comforting and so pretty!! I hope the snow lets up soon...thankfully we don't have any at the moment and I'm hoping it stays that way!! Have a great day :)
Sympathy cards are always the hardest to do but this one is beautiful and will bring comfort to anyone. So very pretty Brenda! Stay safe in all that snow up there!! Lynn
I've had to make around 20 sympathy cards in a range of 6 months last year Brenda. All for my family. And they were all different. You could say I'm an expert now. LOL LOL And your card is so beautiful. It is just perfect not to bright but not too dark either and sereen. I love it my friend. Try to keep warm. We had snow in the weekend is all gone now and made room for a drizzy day. Big warm hug to you, Veerle xxx
I think we all struggle with sympathy cards until the time we need one, and then we must put one together. This is so pretty and serene with that beautiful blue design in the background! I love the heart in each corner, along with those teeny tiny butterflies! Well done Brenda!
This overlay is such a beautiful backdrop to your sympathy card. I love the tree and all the pretty butterflies. I like to use butterflies on my sympathy cards, too. Your sympathy card is beautiful and you did a great job. Hope you don't get too much snow, otherwise it is a wonderful excuse to do crafting, lol. You valentine card is so beautiful, too.
Your card is very well done, Brenda. I like the lacy cut backdrop for the tree. The butterflies are such a nice touch. Sympathy cards are indeed hard to make. I tend to make them only when I need to. You did a wonderful job.
Very pretty card for a event like this. Yep we got quite a bit after I went to be looks like about 4" on the bannister of the porch and it started snowing again. Take care, stay safe and warm :) Got to go clean off my car for work tonight :) Hugs Tina
I am trying really hard to catch up with everyone .. .. but not getting very far :-(
I have been having a lovely back-track on your blog and all your news. I was so pleased to read about your special anniversary treat. That is super special!
Lots of lovely makes from you too. You have made more valentine makes than I have this year that's for sure.
Hi, Brenda. This card is just right. It's beautiful, comforting and the butterflies offer just the right amount of hope that things will get better. Please stay warm and safe. Hope hubby is doing well.
Hey Brenda, Your card is lovely and perfect for the occasion. It is not sad at all and not to happy but just showcases the beauty of life.. key word being "life". And you are giving a card to someone to lift up their spirits about another life that was beautiful. Just perfect. I hope you have a great day! Hugs, Jo xox
This is really gorgeous Brenda love the colours you have used! I think we are getting snow this week sometime which Ollie will love!! but I don't want LOL take care and lots of huggles Sue xx
It is a very pretty sympathy card, Miss Brenda. But it could be used for many occasions if you change up the sentiment. Love the colors that you selected, very soothing and soft. Love that lacy doily and the center diamond shape. The tree with the butterflies is so pretty in the center, and I love that stitched oval. Nice to have this one in your stash & hope you don't need it! TFS & Hugs. MM
butterflies make a great sympathy card. I love how your butterflies float upward. Yes, it is always nice to have a sympathy card on hand. In fact, I need to make several more.
Brenda...oh my! Your card expresses sympathy perfectly, with its delicate framing, lovely tree and spirit-lifting butterflies! You've created a gem here that's guaranteed to melt the heart of the person needing some tenderness! So gorgeous! Your snowfall: ick! We're in the midst of strange weather: rain and 'warm-ish' temperatures! In fact, yesterday, local highways were closed in the morning, due to freezing rain. Fortunately, in town, the roads were just sloppy and wet. Just four hours north, where my mom and family live, is a snowy-frozen landscape. Amazing how weather can be so different in just a matter of miles! Stay warm and cozy, dear friend! Spring is coming! Hugs~c
Thank you for your comments. I enjoy reading each and everyone of them and love when you stop by to visit me for a spell. I will be stopping by shortly to visit you too. I so appreciate you! Crafty hugs, Brenda
