Hello my crafty friends, I hope your Monday is off to a great start. I am anxiously waiting to hear back from hubby's chemo office. We got the results of his CAT scan and it wasn't good. The aggressive treatment didn't work at all. The cancer grew some, not a lot, but it still grew. So now doc is going to try a new drug that cost $10,000 for 21 pills a month. Shocked?!! Us too! So we are waiting for the paper work to be done and to see if our insurance is going to cover the cost. If not there are supposed to be programs that will help with the cost. This drug is for people with color cancer who have tried chemo and it didn't work. I am so praying that this drug works for my husband. He does have youth on his side and he is healthy except for the cancer doc said. So please pray with me that this drug works and that insurance will pay for it. We are getting to the end of options, have one more after this and that was the first chemo he did which did shrink on tumor and kills two others. But they came back when he went on the chemo pill, and have since grew with this last treatment. Thank you for all the prayers you have prayed so far, they really mean the world to us.
Ok, now onto this weeks challenge over at BBTB2. I also want to give a shout out to our sweet Jayne, today is her birthday!!! Happy Birthday Jayne!!! Emily is our sweet and talented hostess and she has challenged us to make a Thanksgiving card. Well this is a great challenge because I needed a couple more cards for Thanksgiving so I can get them out in the mail today! So off I went to my crafty room and made a CAS Thanksgiving card. It was Pinterest inspired and you can see the one that inspired me here. I used my CTMH Cricut Art Philosophy to cut out my leaves, used a snippet of colorful paper to but behind my leaves. I then used MCT products to cut my layer with the leaves for my card base. I then stamped my striped border with another MCT stamp set, using orange soda Hero Art Shadow ink and my sentiment also a MCT stamp set. Then using the leaf from one of my negative cut outs, I stamped that too with the striped border as well as another border on the inside mat. I popped up my outside and inside layer with foam tape. That is it folks, I told you it was a clean and simple card! I hope you like it, cause I love how it turned out. So come on and join us in this Thanksgiving card challenge.
Thanks so much for taking time out of your busy day to stop by and visit me. I know it is only going to get even more hectic with Thanksgiving and Christmas that is right around the corner. All of us have much to do in a small amount of time to do it in. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! Hugs, Brenda
Since I used a snippet of paper I can go over and play at the Snippets Playground. Di is a lovely person and it is so fun to join in over there. Some fabulous prizes as well and I should know, I won one last week!
I'm so sorry you had to have such unfortunate news just in time for the holidays, but look at Valerie Harper who's doing quite well today in spite of all those devastating reports she endured over a year ago! I think her positive attitude has kept her going, and hopefully your insurance will pay for your hubby's much-needed drug. I cannot imagine being faced with such costs for maintaining your health!
ReplyDeleteYour card is so CAS beautiful and I love all those pretty leaves! Congrats on your Playground win last week too, you go girl! Have a great Thanksgiving!!
Oh Brenda my dear friend I am so sorry to read that your husbands results weren't good. I do so hope that these new pills will do the work and that your insurance is going to pay for them. I should be forbidden to ask such a high price when someones life is at stake. Every now and then we see a case like that on the news here in Belgium too, it's heartbreaking. I know it costs a lot to develop these new medications but in my opinion the pharmacy world is rich enough to cover the cost. But as to you two cards they are so lovely You did a wonderful job Brenda. Sending you a big hug and I'll keep my fingers crossed for your hubby.
ReplyDeleteLove, Veerle xxx
Brenda, your card is beautiful, clean, simple and just right. So sorry the news wasn't very good. Hope this new drug works and your insurance pays. It's obscene to expect people to pay so much for meds. I'm praying for all of you. Let this be your miracle.
ReplyDeleteHope everything works out for your husband! So sorry to hear the news wasn't good! :( Will keep you and him in my thoughts and prayers, Brenda! And your cards are darling! Love the CAS look.
ReplyDeleteBrenda, you already know you and hubby are in my prayers daily! Keep a positive attitude and things will work out. Hugs to both of you.
ReplyDeleteI love this CAS beauty! The leaves are so pretty and great choice of patterned paper!

ReplyDeleteLovely card, Brenda ... the DP behind the leaf cuts is so beautifully autumnal! My prayers are already with you and DH ... and I'm sending many more, my friend! Anita :)
ReplyDeleteYour card is so beautiful and much prettier than the pinterest card. I do love getting ideas from pinterest, also. I love the striped border and the colored leaves, sooo pretty. My prayers are with you and your husband as he battles the cancer. Hope you and your family have a very Happy Thanksgiving. I just had a really fun weekend with the grands. What can be better than having hugs from those sweet babies. My youngest grand spent alot of time in my lap. She is 1 1/2 years old.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Caroline

I'm playing catch up here Brenda! I owe you an email and also will post your prize later on this week I promise. Gosh I do so hope that the cost of those pills will be covered by your insurance honey - you're both very much in my thoughts.
ReplyDeleteLove you card - so clean and fresh - and perfect for Thanksgiving. I think I read over on another blog that it's a favourite holiday of yours as it's easier then Christmas? I'll go with that one for sure. Everything seems to go mad here in the run up to Christmas - and folk forget the real meaning as well.
Hugs
Di xx
Brenda I'm so sorry to hear the latest about your husband my prayers are with both of you, so sad that they have to charge that kind of an amount for pills too seems like there is no conscious of the pharmaceuticals at all. I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving one of joy too.
ReplyDeleteHang in there sweet girl. You are both in my thoughts and prayers. Sending healing hugs.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your wonderful cards.
Crafty hugs,

ReplyDeleteOh Brenda sending you both lots of huggles and prayers I know what it's like to have a seriously ill hubby and you just try and 'get on with it' but if your like me I try to keep a smile on my face but when I turn the light out each night I spend hours praying and hoping..so my thoughts are totally with you...fab card too xxx the dies I use are mainly Memory Box and Joanna Sheen sells dies and if you spend £9 or more she does international shipping free...lots and lots of huggles xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sue xxxx
ReplyDeleteThis is not in my category of CAS - although I know it meets that definition. The design & colors you selected take it right out of the ballpark in my book. Love it! As you know, prayers are going forward each day for you both. You've got a big prayer chain going on...we WILL be heard. Big Hugs & Thx for my happy mail today. It's fun & gorgeous!!! Big Hugs, Happy Turkey day, & lots of love. MM
ReplyDeleteBrenda, I'm sorry your husband needs additional treatment. I'm praying for you both. I love your card. The colors are grand.
ReplyDeleteSweetheart, I'm so sorry to hear of the disappointing news. I will continue to keep you in my prayers and be specific about the drug. Please let me know if you have a fundraiser so I can make a donation. That is such an outrageous amount. How can they live with themselves telling people that they "have a drug that could possibly cure you," but then in some cases add, "sorry you can't afford it."! Awful!
ReplyDeletePlease keep me posted and I hope you and your family have a wonderful gathering for Thanksgiving to share the good blessings. (And, of course, I LOVE your CAS Thanksgiving card!!) Hugs, Darnell
I pray and hope the doctors can find a drug that works on that awful cancer. I wish you and the family a wonderful Thanksgiving. Love the card this week, I have to try this-- so many projects, so little time
ReplyDeleteMaureen
Prayers offered here for a prompt and positive decision regarding your insurance coverage.
ReplyDeleteHopefully this new treatment will give the results you need.
My DH had cancer for 4 years many, many years ago. It looked as though all were lost a couple of times and despite non encouraging news from his doctors at the time, he beat it and has never had it come back.
I will pray for results like that for you both!
Hugs
Maureen

My sweet friend! A thousand (and one!) apologies for being so behind in commenting! Now that the cards for my mom are done, as well as the Advent project for the kids, I'm aiming to get more organized (I hope)! I'm saddened to hear the results of your husband's tests, BUT as, the doctor said, he has 'youthful health' on his side, not to mention a positive attitude, a loving, supportive wife and a strong, connected family. Add to that the prayers and 'positive vibes' we're sending...I believe, truly and deeply, that all will be well. The Lord is listening! Your card is oh so sweet, charming and delightful (rather like its designer, I'd say *grin*). The leaves, the striped edge, the lovely white space: clean, simple and STUNNING! Your visits to my blog continue to warm my heart and bring mega-smiles to my face! Thank you for being awesome! Hugs and much love,
