Card Organization

Hello crafty peeps, I hope you are having a fabulous Saturday. Today I have a two or three parter for you. I will bring you half of my project this Saturday and then next Saturday I hope to finish it up and show you the finished product. I don't know about you but I'm always late with my birthday cards that get mailed out. It's really been bugging me so I thought I'd make a book to place my finished cards in. With each month having a pocket for those month's birthday's, anniversaries, etc. Maybe this will help me get my greetings out to my loved ones on time. Hey stranger things have happened!! lol Besides it can't hurt to try, right?! So I sat down and designed on paper what I wanted to do. I figured I would keep my pages 8 1/2 x 11 inches and I would have two months on one piece of card stock, and I knew each month would have to have a pocket to hold the cards. Next I would need a place to write each month's dates on and whether it is a birthday or anniversary, etc...So I planned that out in Microsoft Word to be printed later and added to the pages. I got my pages assembled and started putting my papers on each month. I used The Paper Studio "All Seasons" paper from Hobby Lobby. I cut out my months with Designer Calendar Cricut cartridge along with the shadow. I took a 1/2 inch strip of white paper and stamped sentiments from Card TV Stamps. Some you will see don't have any stamping on it, that is because I don't have any stamps for that month. I will have to be ordering them from Mary to finish my stamping. Now what I didn't plan on was my binding when I stamped my sentiments. So some of my sentiments on the left hand side might get a hole punched in it. I plan on binding all my pages along with a front and back cover with my Cinch. I may or may be adding some additional decorations/embellishments to my pages as I go along. So this might turn into a three parter, so I hope I don't bore you!! I have Jan. - June for you today. This is just the page with the paper and sentiments done. The embellishments haven't been added yet, and it hasn't been bound. The Cardz TV Stamps used on today's pages are: Sugar Rush, St. Patrick's Day, Easter Punnies, Easter Blessings, and Think Spring.

I hope to see you back next Saturday to see this more done on this card organization. I also hope this has inspired you to make a card organization book for yourself! And as always, your comments warm my heart so, so thank you for them. Crafty hugs, Brenda

  1. You have made me curious my friend. This already looks great and beautiful. I'll be back to find out more about your little project. I just have a big calendar on my wall and a TO DO list LOL. But I have been reorganizing myself with the help of my dear daddy who is great with wood. He makes little cupboards for my craft stuff later a post with detailed fotos but I can tell you it is superb LOL All credit goes to my daddy. I just asked, explained what and how and he delivered. Dream team no ? LOL LOL LOL Have a wonderful weekend my dear, hugs, Veerle xxxx

  2. Great idea, Brenda. When I do cards for a month or more, they all sit in their envelopes in a stack. I have to go through each one to find what I am looking for. One year I forgot to sign several before they were mailed. Of course they knew who sent them but I think I need a system. Yours is looking great. Can't wait to see the rest of it.

  10. You are going to LOVE having this book handy once it's finished! I made one for myself about 7 years ago, and I flip through it a few times a month to make sure I don't miss anyone's special day! I love your colorful papers and lettering for the months! I look forward to seeing the finished book all put together too :)

  13. Holey moley, but this is one of the coolest, prettiest and 'most sensible' organization projects I've ever seen! I'm not kidding, Brenda; this is amazing! I totally LOVE the pocket idea for stashing the cards once you have them done! Of course, such a system would require *me* to be working 'in advance* rather than my perpetual 'last minute" (and to think I'm a teacher! Yeesh!), but that would certainly be 'in my face' incentive! My current system - a post-it-note here, a scribble of paper there - isn't working very well. And my cards, especially now that I have a number of them for my mom - are strewn alllll over the kitchen table (given my 'crafting zone is the kitchen counter, I truly don't have much space. But still...)! Yes, my dear, I think you've captured my interest in making one of these! I'm incredibly excited to see the next batch...oh, and I adore how you've captured each month's 'theme'. You're a genius...and a treasure!!

  14. Well, I AM IMPRESSED! This is not only very organizational & so useful, BUT it's extremely beautiful too. Love all the colors you've chosen for each month to fit the theme. Lynn had a great idea too, about using these as gifts (probably a bit labor intensive though!) Very clever of you to think of the idea, come up with the design & then actually follow through with it! Not sure which part of this I'm most excited by (knowing me, it's the actual follow-thru!) Great post! Stay warm. Big Hugs. MM

  15. Hi Brenda

    Here at last!!!

What a rubbish blog buddy I am.

I have had a great time catching up on all of the projects you have posted since I last visited. You too have been super busy I can see.

Loving your card organisation plan .. .. it is funny but some months I don't have any birthday/celebrations and others I have loads and loads.

I hope all is well with you and hardly dare ask how the scan went. I am hoping so much that is was good news.

    Love Jules xx

  17. Pretty and functional. I love how bright the papers are. I definitely think this will get you to mail your cards on time, because you will want to put it out and look at the lovely pages. And when you do, you will be reminded to mail your cards. And this project made me think of what I'm currently working on - I'm making calendars for Christmas presents.

I look forward to seeing the finished project. It is going to be fabulous.
