My Apologies

Hello crafty peeps, I wanted to pop in and tell you all why I haven't been around to visit. First off I'm still not getting my notifications by email on the blogs I follow by email, which is most of them! Secondly my computer went. So had to order a computer. Good news is that it came last night and Bret got me all set up with it. Thank God he was home for spring break and could help me with it. And thank God that I had backed everything up last Sunday before it went. When I downloaded Window's 10, it corrupted my computer and Bret wanted to try and fix it for me by taking off the corrupt W10 and then reinstalling it. Well, no could do. The whole computer went. So I'm thankful we did it that way instead of it going out on me before I backed up everything. Bret was after me about getting a new computer at Christmas, I guess I should have just did it then, but didn't want to spend the money. Didn't want to spend it now either but I can't go without a computer. Doesn't that sound funny?!! Because we used to go without computers! Times sure have changed haven't they. Plus I wanted to keep my other computer as long as I could since that was the last one Dwayne bought for me and it wasn't that old. I know in the whole of technology it was old, but to me it wasn't. lol So now I'm back up and running and will be around soon to try and catch up with what all you all have been doing.  After having a nice week, we have snow today. Boo And snow for Sunday as well. Just keep repeating, spring is coming, spring is coming, spring is coming!!! lol  My other news is that I will be elderly sitting for a new lady two times a week. I'm a little nervous about it, but it should go well. I'm just always a nervous Nellie when starting something new. Hope you all are having a fabulous day!!

  1. I know what you mean about wanting to keep your computer. I was running an HP dinosaur and when I went to update my Silhouette, the darn thing crashed. DH had a newer one, and was running Windows whateveritwasthen, and I didn't want anything to do with that. He was going crazy with it! So I bought a nice, big Mac. And I'm loving it. I know you'll love your new one too. Don't apologize for when your computer won't behave; it's not like you had anything to do with the technology, or did you, lol?????!!!! YAY for sons who can do computers! Good boy!! Can't seem to remember what it was like without a computer...Or maybe that's just me getting old, lol. Have a great weekend dear friend. xoxo

  3. Good luck with your new computer, Brenda!! I had trouble when I upgraded to Windows 10 and it was a nightmare. I think they only make computers to last a couple of years anymore. My laptop is acting funny and it's only a year old!! Have a great weekend!! Big hugs :)

  4. Windows 10 seems to have caused lots of problems. Good news that you backed everything up! It's something I should do more often. Good luck with your new computer. xx

  5. Sorry about your computer woes - I'm at a total loss when things like that happen because there's no one around to help me fix things and I'm not all that computer savvy. I didn't take the win10 d/l either - I have this mindset that if it ain't broke, don't fix it! LOL Glad you're back and good luck with your new client you'll be sitting with!

  6. Oh what a hassle to have to get a new computer, but obviously it was meant to be with you backing everything up earlier in the week. I also had trouble with windows 10 and have refused to use it. I am on Windows 8.1 and it works great. I'm keeping it for as long as I can. :)

Anyways, glad you are up and running again. Thank goodness for Bret!! xx

  7. That was a close shave with your computer - the last time I updated I had just transferred the data from the old to the new computer, and 24 hours later it died completely!! Thankfully my Son in Law is the one who finished my set up for me

  8. Hi Brenda,
UGHHH . . . computer issues! I just hate them. My windows 7 Sony VAIO is on its last legs. Crashes all the time now. I keep backing up so I am prepared for the day it goes. I feel like I get one of those appliance gremlins in the house as the clothes washer just started to have some issues too. Glad to hear you are up and running with the new computer. One of my friends gave me a project to help me to get up and moving and I did a blog post about it. Check it out if you have time. I also got the new Cricut Explore Air 2 from HSN (a gift from Paul. I don't have it yet but it is ordered. He is hoping it will get me up and back into the craft room. I am trying Brenda, really I am. Once again thank you for all your cards and support it really means the world to me. As always my crafty friend I wish you blessings and joy. Keep in touch, Lysa

  9. That may have been the problem with my other computer before I got this one. After I downloaded the upgrade is when it started acting up. Ended up just getting a new one with 10 already on it. Works like a charm.

  10. Enjoy your new computer, Brenda! Learning the new is always stressful but it keeps us on our toes! Same goes for new jobs. I'm sure you will do fine and your new "friend" will grow to love you! Stay safe and warm.

  11. OH! Glad to hear you had backed up your 'puter before it decided to go on you. I admit life would be quite different without our 'puters now, what did we fill our time with LOL. Even getting used to a new one is traumatic, waiting to see if everything works OK. I know I was like that when my old 'puter went, Thankfully I have settled in to mine and dare I say it Win 10 is working OK.
    Have a good weekend.

  12. Oh, wow, that's a frustrating situation, Brenda, but you sure were lucky to have it go as smoothly as it did, to have that backup, and to have Brett there to help you! I hope the new one is whiz-bang and doesn't give you one moment of trouble and I hope the new lady is a love and easy to sit with! Sending up a prayer!! Love and hugs, Auntie

  13. Hi dear sweet friend so glad the LORD watched over you with your dear son helping you out and backing it all up and everything... 😁
I had real issues meself with windows 10 however I didn't chose to download, it chose to download itself, had major issues having to go into registry etc to get working okay again...
Now prayiing my current computer, a laptop, last till they bring a decent Windows. Or summat of that sort. 😝
That experience kind of put me off widows up till then I loved it.
Sending prayer hugs, sis, Shaz and Robin too. ❤❤❤

  15. Brenda Congrats on your new computer- I think mine is 10 years old, my computer guy says there is no need for a new one He keeps mine running. Last year I to had computer issues. He fixed it and awhile back i upgraded to win 7 and I absolutely love it. It took away a few steps that I had to do each time I posted so things are a bit quicker now. I am sure you will do fine sitting with the elderly lady - Many blessing to you on your new journey my friend

  16. Hi Brenda,

How great that you had just done a backup - I always intend to do them but it rarely happens. I hope the new one behaves beautifully for years and years. Good luck with the new elderly sitting - you're going to be great!
    Roll on spring.

  17. Well, good on you for doing backups! I'm proud of you (because I get real negligent about that, and I DO know how important it is). Yay for Mr. Bret that he was savvy enough to help you with it. Did you get Win10 on the new one? Some people love it, some hate it (I'm in the 2nd camp. ) I reverted back to win7 within 4 days, but still had some crappy problems because not everything cleaned off. The other pc & laptop have Win8. I'll hang on as long as possible. Not crazy about win8 either, but think that is 'cause I'm too lazy to learn the differences between Win7 and Win8. Hang in there, be safe if you get any of the 'weather'. And good luck with the elderly care...you'll do fine, because you are a natural born caregiver I think! Hugs & TFS

  18. It's a good thing you backed up. I have lost pictures when mine crashed. The best thing to do is print your pictures and not just leave them in the computer! Lucky you to have an expert inhouse, good for Bret. I have to ask my grands for help when something goes wrong! I'm glad you are getting out and an elder care job is great. You will be company for her and still have your own time too. Good luck. We are getting a little snow here this weekend too but not like the East Coast. Be safe.

  19. computers and technology can be so frustrating! i'm glad you were able to back up everything and hope you enjoy your new computer. i'm a mac user after too many windows problems and i love it. my frustration comes from a slow internet connection or difficulty dictating and it messing up my words. :)

  20. Yes, Brenda, we find it extremely difficult to be without our computers now. I'm glad everything was backed up before your old one died. You'll do fine in the elder care. Just relax and go for it. Stay warm and safe.

  21. Aw Brenda, I feel your pain! Hope all is fine with the PC now (I'm off the wall and use Linux here - free, easy and virus free as folk are attacking Windows.......mostly!).

    Love

  22. Goodness, Brenda ... such a nuisance ... though, if your computer was going to crash, you had all the ingredients for getting up and running again right to hand (Bret and a back up ... yay!). Hope the new one is behaving beautifully! Good luck with your new lady! Hugs, Anita :)

  23. Hi Brenda, I was MIA for quite a long while too. As I had loads of preparation work for the craft show I was on. This time I didn't only give workshops but I also had a small shop with me. (Pic's are on my blog)
I know what you mean when you say we can't do whithout a computer. Indeed times have changed, A LOT !! We are living in a digital era. But it's also nice because it has made the globe we live on, so much smaller. The seed you and I can communicate with is just awesome. I can visit you 7/7 and 24h/24H I couldn't manage or pay for that in real life. So yes we try to catch up and keep up with the modern times don't we ? Sending you a big hug and love, Veerle x

  24. So happy to hear you have a new computer and it is doing well after the scare, isn't it funny how we panic to be without one? When in my youth we didn't even have a telephone and now we have to have all this technology in the home. So glad it all worked out for you.
