Penguin Cold-BBTB2 Challenge

Hello my crafty friends, I hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was so, so. Hard to know what to do with yourself when you don't have your mate around anymore. I helped our cousin take down Christmas trees at her house and her dad's house on Friday and then on Sat. I went to mass in the evening.

Since it is Monday, you know that means it is a brand new challenge over at BBTB2. This weeks challenge is hosted by our talented Kelly. She wants us to use penguins on our project. So I made a little card. Well, it isn't the standard A2 card. Instead it is a 4 1/4 x 6 1/4 card. Kept it pretty simple by doing a print and cut on the Explore. I stamped my houndstooth pattern on some snippets of white cardstock. I also curved my sentiment on my block to match the curve of the penguin's head.  Recipe will be at the bottom.

As always thanks for stopping by. It's always great to get visitors. You always  make my day a happy one. I will be by to visit you real soon too. Crafty hugs, Brenda

Thanks to a blog buddy, Lisa, I can enter this into the the Thankful Thursday challenge over at DLART. It is to use the colors yellow, black and white. Thanks Lisa!

I also want to enter into the Snippets Playground challenge of using snippets.

  2. Good for you, getting back to crafting. It does give you something to do and keeps your mind occupied. I don't do cards in the evening so that is harder. This is an adorable card. I love that little penguin and the black and white squares are cute. I like how you did the inside too.

  5. Tee hee! How cutie-patootie your little penguin is, all bundled up for that wintry wonderland he's in! Super sweet; and the placement of your sentiment just adds to the "ahhhhh" factor! Darling in every way! Yes, I know how challenging it is to fill that 'empty space' of time when you're on your own, as my mom has gone through it. She did - and does - exactly as you are: spending time with family and friends. Sending you lots of hugs and prayers for comfort. You're strong and your truly are doing awesome! Hugs and love~c

  7. Glad to hear you kept busy over the weekend, and were with people. This is definitely one of the cutest cards you've done yet! Loved the houndstooth blocks with this little Penguin. Also the idea to curve the sentiment as you did. Very pretty inside, with the glitter-y trims over the houndstooth border! You're a whiz with that Explore. WTGo! Stay cozy. Big hugs & Prayers. MM

  16. Let's first talk about your cute little penguin card. Now that is one darn cute little fella! Love his sweet little red scarf and curving the sentiment over his head was a brilliant idea - awesome! Those pretty glittery snowflakes are amazing, and I love how you've balanced them out with the houndstooth square panels. Wonderful design! And take all the time you need. Do what feels right for you. Keeping busy helps, and if you were to share more cards soon, well, I would just love that! You are in my thoughts and prayers sweetie pie. Oh, and keep warm. It's a might bit cold here...brrrrr!! Bev

  19. I've been looking forward to this post. It's always good to see you back online and making one of your adorable DT cards, Brenda! Keeping busy is the ticket to help with the loneliness and I hope you find getting crafty helps with that, too. We all love it when you're here and what fun to have you romping with the girls at the Playground, too! Be careful when you run between the slides and the tree house because there is a loose board on that last bit!

Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers always! Love and hugs, Auntie Darnell

  21. Oh how lovely to see you in the Playground again Brenda! We sure missed you.

It sounds like very slowly you're getting into a sort of routine again, a very different one I know though. As others have said, crafting is a great diversion and of course we love to see your work.

This is such a cute card - a darling penguin and in fact quite a different style for you - I love it!

    Sorry I'm late commenting!

  28. I so like the striking black and white hounds tooth patterned squares and the super cute penguin Brenda. Very clever to curve the sentiment above the head. We had a minor snow blizzard yesterday evening and so yes, it's cold outside.

I'm glad to hear that you're keeping busy, I still have some Christmas decorations to take down, but they do look so nice when we still have snow.

Lots of love and warm hugs
