Tissue Box Cover and Exciting News to Share!

Hi all my crafty friends! I have some exciting news!  There was a design team call for BBTB2 and my friend Suzanne, Cricut Craftin Grammy, was entering it and encourage me to enter as well.  I knew Suzanne would be chosen as she is mega talented, but never in a million years did I think I stood a chance!! lol  So when I got the email saying that I was chosen I was super stoked!!!  I still have to pinch myself to make sure I'm not dreaming all this up. lol  So this is the project I made, a tissue box cover for my MIL for Mothers Day.  The carts I used are:  Flower Shoppe, Mother's Day Boutique, Sweethearts, Mother's Day 2010, and George and Basic Shapes, Martha Steward doily punch and branch punch.  The dragon flies where sent to me by someone, so I'm not sure if that was a punch or not, but they worked perfectly with my color combo so I used them too. lol  My stars I cut off of George and then scored and folded them to make them 3D.  Love them!!  You can find the directions here for the tissue box. Thanks for sharing in my exciting news and thanks for all your lovely comments you leave me.  They certainly always make my day a little sweeter!

Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend

Hi all my crafty friends, Brenda here from Friends Craftin with Friends.  This week at Sweet Sassy Diva we were ask to make a project using a diamond or diamond shape because that is the birthstone of April and of course we all know that diamonds are a girls best friend. lol  A little birdie told me that we will be having an engagement in the near future in my family!  So I made a window card just for the occasion. Sheila from She's a Sassy Lady has a wonderful tutorial on her blog on making these window cards.  I started out designing my card on my Gypsy.  I have figured that while I am making one card, I might as well make a second card as well.  So I have two cards on my mat.  You will see only one finished card that fits in with our challenge.

I chose what mat stack I wanted to get my papers from for my card bases.  For my card that I am showing your I used the La Creme mat stack by DCWV.  I also used DCWV Glittered paper as well.

I cut and assembled all of my die cuts which were only a few.  I then attached them to my card.  Here is my finished card.  Cute and perfect for a congrats cards to the new happy couple!!

I am anxious to see what my design sisters have done with this challenge!  I am sure that we won't be disappointed!!  As always we want to thank you for joining us at Sweet Sassy Diva!  I hope you go away being inspired!!

Easter Cards for the Grandchildren

Hi Everyone!  Yes, I know that Easter is over, but we like to keep the holidays alive for a little longer. lol  When I mail out my package to my grandkids in NY I like to mail late because I don't want to compete with Santa, Easter Bunny, or the other grandparents, so I mail mine goodies after the fact. I don't want them wondering who gave them what either.  This way they know the late box is from Papaw, Grandmaw and UB (uncle Bret). I also have to wait to give the grandkids here in town until Papaw has some time free from the farm or wait until it rains.  It just so happens that it is going to rain later today so we will be taking their goodies over tonight.   I used Birthday Bash for the base of my cards (DCWV Citrus Stack) as well as for the inner circle.  For the cute images I used digi stamps by Dustin Pike, so cute are his digis!!  I got over 300 of them for $20 at his blogiversary sale!! What a deal!! Ok back to my cards, hehe, I used the bunny and the basket for the baby grandkids and then I used the egg up for the preschoolers.  I colored my digis with my Spectrum Noir markers and cut them out with Nestabilities, used some glossy accents and liquid peals and stamped my sentiment with a SU stamp and added glitter ribbon bows.  They aren't very fancy, but I think they are too cute!   Hope you enjoy them too.  Thanks always for your wonderful comments! Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!

Don't Worry, Be Happy!

Hi my crafty friends, Brenda here from Friends Craftin' with Friends.  This week at Sweet Sassy Diva we were given this Mojo Monday sketch to use for our inspiration.

Mojo Monday Card sketch

So as always I started designing it on my Gypsy.

I got my card base and first layer on my card.

I chose my colors by my stamped image and my base paper.  I used all scraps except for my card base.  Here is my first layer papers laid out on my Cricut mat.  I used George and Basic Shapes for my rectangles and circle, and Elegant Edges for the scalloped circle.

Here I have the papers for layer two laid out.  I used Art Philosophy for the "flag" type banner and the flower.

My stamped image is a Close To My Heart stamped set called "Be Happy".  Such a cute set!  I stamped my image and then colored it in with my Spectrum Noir markers.  Assembled my flower and then my card.  Here is the finished card.

I hope that you find inspiration from our DT today as well as from sketches.  Sketches are a good way to get your mojo flowing once again.  Thanks for joining us this week at Sweet Sassy Diva.

Window Cards

Hi my crafty friends.  On Saturdays mornings I love to go to Sheila's blog, She's a Sassy Lady and see what video she had up.  This particular day she was doing window cards. Well since I've never did a window card, I thought I would give it a try.  They are very easy to do and hope that you will watch Sheila's video and give them a try for yourself!!  Simple but cute and quick cards.

Hanging with my Peeps!

Hi my crafty friends, this is Brenda from Friends Craftin' with Friends.  This week the design team at Sweet Sassy Diva was asked to use hens or chicks on a project.  I was planning on starting a flower album with my plants and flowers in it.  I have been wanting the plant called "hen and chicks" for a while now and planned on getting some, taking pics and doing a lo.  Well that didn't happen.  Never went and got any plants, etc...So I had to come up with another idea and to be quite frank, this is all I could think of. lol  Not much, but will do I suppose. After I was all said and done, I thought about doing a lo of one of my grand-daughters being a mother hen to a sibling.  Yeah, then I get an idea!!  lol   Ok, for my card I started out with a 5 x 7 base.  Planned out my card on my Gypsy. Ok don't look now, but I forgot to weld my vine!!  Ack!!  Oh well I made it work out. lol
Then I cut and assembled my pieces. And then arranged them on my card.  My sentiment is computer generated and cut out with SU word window and the modern label punch.  The carts that I used are Martha Steward Seasonal Cake, Creat-a-Critter and Simple Charmed.
Not the most orginal card, but still think it is pretty cute. lol  I know the rest of the design team will wow you with their creations, so sit back, relax and enjoy the week!

Cards for Emily

Hi my crafty friends!  Hope all is well in your neck of the woods.  I have been battling kidney stones and a saliva stone.  I may have to have surgery in two weeks, so if you would, please keep me in your prayers.  I would so appreciate them!!  On to my card, a while back there was a hope for a sweet little girl named Emily. Emily has been battling Leukemia since December.  I can't even imagine all this little girl has been through.  I only know a tiny part of it, as I had to have a bone marrow test myself a few years ago.  This little girl is so brave and inspiring!! We sent cards to Emily to help keep her spirits up and make her smile.  Dustin Pike made special digi stamps just for us to make cards to send to Emily. You can read about it here. You got a digi and when your card is done you are to link it up at Dustin Pike and then you got the whole set of digi stamps!!  How cool is that?!!  You help to put a smile on a sweet, brave little girl's face and got some cool digi stamps too.  I started out with coloring my image.  But...yep there's a but...when I went to cut it out on my Cricut, I did't get it on the mat quite right and cut my little horse's ear off.  Not wanting to take the time to color another image, I went with the image already colored for me. I started out with a card base sized to 5.5 x 8.5. I used Lacy Labels for the mat under my digi.  I used my newest Martha Steward punch and I stamped my sentiment in black ink first and then in white ink to give the illusion of a shadow.  I love how the shadow turned out!!  I used some flowers and buttons to finish off my card.  I hope that you get some time to get your craft on and I wish you all a very blessed Easter!

Rain, Rain Go Away!

Hi my crafty friends, Brenda here from Friends Craftin' with Friends.  Our challenge this week on Sweet Sassy Diva is to use rain stuff, like umbrellas, boots, etc...Well I had the perfect pics for this challenge!! lol  So I started out by designing my lo using my trusty Gypsy.  Can't seem to do anything without it! lol Then I went through some papers, at first I thought about just using a piece of plain blue cardstock, but then I ran into this piece of paper.  Loved it!!!!  My friend Cindy raked this paper to me, Thanks Cindy!!! I had two pieces and I chose this paper because to me the design it looked like splashes all over the it.  Perfect! lol
Then I chose all the papers for my little birdie from 3 Birds on Parade and placed on my mat just like I layed it out on my Gypsy.

I then inked all my pieces with Tim Holtz's distress ink, Vintage Photo and assembled my cute birdie. Then I added glossy accents on his little boots for make them shine.  You can't really see it in the photo though, but it is cute in real life.  Isn't he cute?!!
Next was my title.  I welded a cloud and "rain, rain, go away".  The cloud and rain drops came from Sesame Street-Seasons and the 'rain, rain..." came from the April Showers cart. Cut my base layer and then my top layer being the title.  I off set my title against the white.  I also put glossy accents on my rain drops.

Printed and added my pics and my lo is done!!

I hope the design team at SSD has inspired you to get those pics out and get them scrapped!!  I am looking forward to seeing what my design team sisters have done as well.  Thanks for joining us this week!!
