Guest Designer for CAS Watercolour for October!

Hello my crafty friends, it is CAS Watercolour's 2nd Birthday and they are having a celebration! How fun is that and can you believe it has been 2 years now?!! I can't! Congrats to Loll, Bonnie and the Design Team!

Guess who is Guest Designer?! Yes, me!!! I'm still pinching myself that my sunflower card here won me this guest spot! I hope I do CAS Watercolour proud, it's a heavy burden as these ladies are extremely talented. Thanks Loll, I am very humbled to be Guest Designer for the month of October! Here is the challenge for the month of October-a fun one for sure and I can't wait to see where it takes you all!

Here is what I came up with. I did the splash technique using Distress Oxides. I know my orange kinda looks yellow, but it is an orange. I also took my brown oxide and splattered dots as well.  I was please with how it came out, but I could have used some more green. I then die cut my butterfly image in dark brown card stock from my snippets box. I hand cut one of the circles off at the bottom. I see now I should have cut the top one off, live and learn. I popped this panel up on foam tape and placed it on my card base. I then stamped my sentiment and heat embossed it in white onto some more of that snippet brown cardstock and placed it on my card. I hope you go check out the design team's inspiration and then play along!

As always, I thank you for taking the time to visit with me for a spell. Your comments always bring rays of sunshine into my life and I appreciate you all so much! I will be stopping by to visit you as well.

Crafty hugs,

Card Recipe:

  1. I disagree that you should have cut off the top butterfly! Things always look better in threes, so 2 would have been off a wee bit! I love how this turned out and you did a beautiful job with the CAS challenge! I don't do CAS very well ad I always want to add more layers LOL Great take on the challenge and congrats on being the guest designer for this challenge! Well deserved and well done I'd say :)

  2. This is a GORGEOUS card Brenda. I LOVE your splashed watercoloured background. So artsy and beautiful. The die-cut butterflies in circles is another beautiful element ... great choice with die-cutting from dark brown. They really pop off the background. A fantastic CAS design. Thanks so much for being our Guest Designer this month at CAS Watercolour!! xx

Great dimension! Thanks so much for joining our team at CAS Watercolour this month! And no, we are not enjoying fall weather yet. Seems summer doesn't want to leave NC!

  7. Brilliant card Brenda!!!!!! ... so well done you, gorgeous in every way!

We’re often unnecessarily critical of ourselves and think nine of us would’ve picked the cutting off of circle there.. and think it look prob better balanced as it than with your afterthought.

A huge congrats on being chosen Guest, DT, very worthy effort, sis, thrilled for you.
Loads of love and prayers too, dear sis.

  9. Loved your sunflower card and I'm so happy you are now the GD for this challenge. Your splash background is so pretty and fallish. How cute to add the circles to showcase your butterflies. Three is exactly right! Such a great card, good job, Brenda. We don't have fall yet - it is still in the 80's but a few leaves are starting to fall.

Your splashed watercolored background is gorgeous! I love it! The dark brown die-cut butterflies & circles are a fantastic choice. The piece pops against the light colored background. The white space around the front panel shows it off so beautifully.
