First off let me thank some very generous people here in blog land for sending me some beautiful birthday cards, thank you so much for thinking of me. I didn't even see any of my family on my birthday because I was helping a friend out taking care of their aunt and my friend. She had to have a heart cath done and then came home. The doctor didn't find any blockages, which was a good thing, but what was causing her mild heart attacks? Well...turns out that her blood was way to thick. The doctor could hardly get the cath through her blood! So she is on beta blockers now, so hopefully that will do the trick. Once I get my birthday cards photographed, I will be adding them to a "cards from friend's" page. That is my next goal to get done.
This weekend, Sunday to be exact, our local hospice is having a butterfly release. So myself and my boys are all releasing a butterfly in memory of my husband. Bittersweet!! He has been on my mind so much here of late. I do well and then bam! I'm blue and teary/weepy, missing him so much. Funny how it comes on like that. I just finished staying with my friends elderly aunt for 5 days over the holiday. I was happy to help out so they could go away, but am so glad to be back at my own house and in my own bed. Anyway that is just a little of what's going on in my life at the moment. Sorry if I have bored you! You know I tend to rattle on like the old fool that I am!!!
Ok here is the first two cards I have to share. Both using the same technique as the last card I did. I wanted to try it out a few more times because I just love the look. lol I think it is such a pretty and elegant look. I'm not the best at coloring, but I think it will pass mustard. Is that the saying???? lol I'm pretty pleased with the way these came out and look forward to trying some more different flowers in this technique.
As always thanks for stopping by and visiting a spell on the patio with me. Your comments always bring sunshine into my life! I know that I am behind on my visiting and commenting, but I promise that I will be by soon to try and catch up with what you all have been making!!! Crafty hugs, Brenda

The butterfly release sounds such a lovely idea ... what a beautiful and special way to let your memories fly to Dwayne! Hugs, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteGlad that you are staying busy, and if you have a 'blue day', then that's something you just need to do, then get busy again. You're doing very well at what you've had to cope with. It takes time. I am so loving the looks on both of these cards, and see nothing wrong with your wonderful coloring either. I think you've mastered this technique, and it's one I'd like to try too! Glad you were able to get these photo'd and posted. TFS & big hugs. MM
ReplyDeleteBrenda your cards are beautiful. You have inspired me to give that technique a try. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSounds to me like you are right on track in the grieving process. Your hubby was a huge part of your life so it is totally understandable that things will just hit you. Take care of yourself my friend. Your courage is inspiring.

Great work Brenda, these cards definitely cut the mustard 😊 Lovely stamping and colouring. Love hearing about your doings too, and just for the record you're not a fool, old or otherwise 😉
ReplyDeleteGods definition of a fool is this " the fool hath said in his heart that there is no God". So you're no fool, dear friend ❤️❤️
Thanks for the inspiration,

I'm so happy to see you back in the craft room. That was so nice of you to help out with your friend. It sounds like you are keeping busy. That's what gets me through the days too. I think being overcome when something triggers you is completely normal. I started crying in the grocery store when I came around the corner and saw Ritz crackers. That was hubbys snack and it just got me. Just take it as it comes. How nice to have the butterfly release for him. Your cards are just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteWho's an 'old fool'? Not you, my sweet Brenda, you are an energetic sweetheart, investing time and energy helping family and friends whenever and wherever an extra hand or pair of shoulders are needed. Busy-ness is marvelous therapy; good for your spirits and those who have the lovely opportunity to enjoy your companionship (yes, I'm a wee bit jealous *grin*). The butterfly release: oh my! How beautiful that will be; both the act of and reason behind doing so for you and your sons. I can just imagine the pretty flutters that will fill the sky...As for your 'blue' moments: totally natural and totally to be expected. Embrace them for the lovely memories they rekindle and the way they fill your heart with love (and longing...). You are doing a-okay! Now, about these cards: OH MYYYYYY! Gorgeous flowers with the highlight colouring! WOW! And naughty me having missed your birthday. So HAPPY BIRTHDAY...and a ton of virtual hugs heading your way!
