Hello my crafty friends, I hope if you were in the path of this storm you made it through it safe and sound. I had originally had this scheduled to post because I was afraid we would lose our power with this snow storm. But we didn't. We did however get 28 inches of snow dumped on us! I was so happy to have my youngest and his friend get home from college on Friday before the snow storm hit. It started around 5/6pm on Friday. Woke up to lots and lots of snow on Saturday. Still coming down like crazy, but my son and friend went out to shovel the back porch and walk open. Then they "waded" through the snow drifts on the tractor path to get to the farm. Once there they got the doors open to the big shed and got the loader tractor out and pushed snow at the farm and home. Then helped a neighbor, all the while the snow continued to fall at 2 to 3 inches per minute. Finally called it done for the day. Woke up this morning to a beautiful, sunny day. My son got the tractor again and pushed more snow and snow drifts at the farm and home. Then he went up the road and plowed a another neighbor out. In the mean time, I shoveled the front porch, couldn't open the door, and shoveled to the driveway from the front porch as well as opened up a path to the pipes that they oil man uses to deliver my heating oil. My neighbor came by and finished helping me get this done. Then my son and friend came home and we had supper. After supper they dug open the mail box so the mail could be delivered. It was his 20th birthday, so celebrated that and then off they left to go back to college. These boys worked hard this weekend! Thank God, because I don't know when I would have gotten dug out since my other son was still snowed in at his house. He lives about 25 minutes from me and thought he would be able to get to me on Saturday to dig me out. Nope, didn't happen. He was still snowed in late this afternoon! I would rather mow grass than shovel snow. lol So I'm done, where's spring?! And yes, youngest son and friend got back to college safe and sound. a 2 1/2 hour drive and I can watch them drive all the way home on my phone, it even tells me how fast they are driving. Such a piece of mind to watch them get there. Here are some pictures for you to enjoy. Feeling frosty??
My back porch/patio after the guys shoveled Sunday.
My youngest clearing the driveway on Saturday.
This was our visibility, sometimes worse than this on Saturday.
This is my front yard on Sunday.
My backyard on Sun., there is a picnic table between the two trees, buried.
Out my back door, with the door open on Saturday, it was piling up against the door.
Ok, enough of my rambling. We were challenged over at BBTB2 to use a snowflake on our project by the talented Susan. Well, I should have did a snowflake layout since it is snowing like crazy and I will be taking pictures. But at the time I did my project I didn't know we were going to have a huge storm, so I have a card instead. It was Pinterest inspired and you can find that inspiration here. Ok, it was more like a down right copy, I admit. I couldn't help it, I feel in love with it. I was going to make my snowflake white and for some reason, I made it silver glitter. Don't ask me what I was thinking, but I forgot I was going to make it white like the Pinterest one. Yea, still not on my game I'm sorry to say and don't think I will be for a while yet. Anyway I used a lot of snippets on this one. The only thing that isn't a snippet is my card base, which is 4 1/4 X 4 1/4. So this card will still fit in an A2 envelope. Ok, it's your turn to create some dazzling snowflake projects to link up with us.
As always thank you for stopping by and visiting with me a spell. You comments always make my day and leave me with a smile on my face. Crafty hugs, Brenda

ReplyDeleteSo glad your safe and sound :) Bret probably told you by now we nly got a dusting here. To live in the same state and such a vast difference in snowfall. So glad that Bret and his friend was there to help too. Such a pretty card to go with the weekend. You take care and prayers of a slow melt and then bring on spring :)
ReplyDeleteHugs my friend, Tina
Good grief that's a lotta snow! Thank goodness your son and his friend were there to help. I'm glad he had a safe trip back to school. That is a cool app that lets you track his route. You would know if anything was wrong and could send help. Your card is lovely and right in keeping with the season now. Stay safe and warm.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, that's a ton of snow!! I'm so glad your son was home to help you. One year when I lived in Lake Placid, it snowed so much it completely covered my car. It had to be dug out by the fire dept.!! So now I'm not a fan of the white stuff :)
ReplyDeleteYour card is absolutely stunning!! I love the design and the beautiful snowflake!! It's elegant and gorgeous my friend!! Stay safe and warm!! Have a great day!! Big hugs :)

I'm so glad your son was there to give you a hand in that storm, cuz it sure was a doozy wasn't it? We got about 30" of the stuff, but thank goodness it was a light snow and didn't pull wires down! Whew! What a pretty card with that big snowflake center! It's just gorgeous and perfect for the weather we're having, eh? Take care and stay warm! The big meltdown's coming tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteI so love your snowflake in the silver glitter!! Most beautiful against the white bg!!!!

ReplyDeleteLove your card. The silver looks so pretty against the white background. xx
Wow, Brenda! What a wonderful son you have. I bet he didn't mind a bit using his weekend to help his mom. So glad you didn't have to contend with lost power.

It must have been kismet, Brenda ... gorgeous card! The snow? Not so much - I'm over it too, even though we didn't get that storm - for which I'm thankful. Hope all the roads are cleared by now - but admit it, it was a bit fun getting snowed in, especiall with those boys to help, right?

Awesome snow pics! Looks lots worse than what we had! Our snow was just fun & pretty to look at (thankfully). Yours looks like a lotta work, and not so much fun at all. TFS those. Glad the boys were there to help you out. Also that they got back to school safely. Pretty scary driving on the roads they must have traveled, so happy that you could track their progress and not have to fret with worry. Your glittered snowflake is just gorgeous! The silver stands out so lovely against the white elements. A white flake would have looked grand, but actually I think I prefer the silver glitter. Very striking. So happy to see you've joined in at the Playground AND Rudy Day! Big hugs, and glad you got to make a card! MM
ReplyDeleteOh, Brenda, I'm so glad the birthday boy and his friend were able to get there to help dig you out! What a mess, but it sure is a beautiful white blanket! Thank you for sharing all the photos which makes it easier to get the full impact! Your CASE is beautiful! I can see why you wanted to copy that design. I think it works with the silver glitter snowflake and that makes it your own! I hope it's a while before you get another snow storm!! Love and hugs, Auntie Darnell
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card with that fabulous big snowflake
ReplyDeleteStay safe
How lovely to see you in the Playground Brenda! And what a gorgeous card too - I love the sparkly silver with the white - perfect!
ReplyDeleteThat's one load of snow you had - so pleased you had helping hands to clear it. As already said by others here - one inch of snow and the UK grinds to a halt! :)
Come back soon sweetie.

What a beautiful card, Brenda! Wow! That's a lot of snow! So glad your youngest was able to get home to help you! Warm hugs!
ReplyDeleteI never can do a white on white card - you nailed it... beautiful. if you put it outside, you will lose sight of it except for the silver snowflake.
ReplyDeletelove the pictures of your property in the snow - all we get got was lots of rain - which we desperately need. My yard is like a wet sponge. Glad you had help to move snow. Stay warm!

What a great son (and friend) to come home and work so hard to get everything dug out for you. I'm so glad you are OK ... that is a LOT of snow to deal with. Great pics.
ReplyDeleteYour card is gorgeous Brenda. I LOVE the silver glitter snowflake ... it's really pretty. xx
Your snow pictures are amazing Brenda. We've only had a light frosting once this year so far! VERY VERY Windy at the tail end of your snow storm here in the UK today and yesterday though.
ReplyDeleteLOVING your very pretty and dimensional snowflake cards. So gorgeous.
Thanks for visiting me. xxx
WOW such a gorgeous card Brenda!! I really love that huge snowflake as the focal point. Its beautiful! And wow 28 inches is a lot of snow!!! SO thankful that you had your son and his friend there to help you with everything. If I had still lived in PA where the rest of my family is, I would have been slammed with 24 inches. Not too far off from you. That is what my family had when it was all said and done. I on the other hand, as you probably saw on Facebook, got slammed with all the flooding down here at the Jersey shore. Some areas in my neighborhood had totals of up to 8 feet deep! Icy cold water! My entire neighborhood and surrounding towns were completely under water. I had water come up onto my porch and at one point, I thought for sure our home was going to be flooded out but thankfully by the good graces of the Lord, it was not. It was a horrible storm all the way around for the whole east coast. I'm glad you were safe and all was okay and that the boys made it college safely. I'd love to know what you use to track their travels?
ReplyDeleteWell Have a great day hon.
Hugs,
Jo
