For my project today, I made a paper cake. chocolate with peanut butter icing. lol I used vellum and punch 8 scallops for each dollop of whip cream. My cake has sprinkles on the top layer and different sentiments around around the cake. I took a flame-less candle and wrapped with paper and placed in the middle of the top layer. For my cake boxes I used the Cricut cartridge "Tie the Knot". I plan on putting candies in the boxes and not sure just what else yet. Maybe some homemade goodies too. Haven't really decided and if you have any suggestions on some things to put in, I'd love to hear them!l My DIL is having a surprise birthday party for my son and this is what I'm taking over to him, since we will have already given him his birthday gift.

ReplyDeleteBrenda, how fabulous, wonderful, thoughtful and all-around DELIGHTFUL is this cake! Clever in every respect, and your choice of details - chocolate with peanut butter icing, whipped cream, sprinkles, candles - has me craving a piece of the real thing right this second! Amazing creativity! Candles and home-made treats are excellent ideas; how about some little gadgets - nuts, bolts, screwdrivers. A trip to the hardware store might spark ideas. Maybe some gift cards: coffee, books, clothes (my husband would be tickled pink with those). How about some 'home made' coupons, such as: Good for one free babysitting evening (assuming they have kids), or "Good for one free batch of cookies". Just a bunch of fun little things...Anyway, back to your cake: LOVE x LOVE x LOVE it, and your son and DIL will, too! Hugs~c
ReplyDeleteFabulous & Super YUMMY!!
ReplyDeleteNow I want cake..lol
Have a wonderful day,

Sooo delicious, Brenda ... and so clever ... what an inspired idea! Love how you've added 'flavours' and sprinkles ... and how there are going to be goodies in the slices! Some off the wall suggestions for fillings (depending on how off the wall you want to be or your son is!) ... jigsaw puzzle pieces (without the picture!) spread across a number of slices ... mind stretching puzzles (wood or metal type ones) ... table top games (marbles/bowling/tiddley winks) ... ok, I'll stop there before I get too wacky! No matter what you put in, he's sure to love it! Anita :)
ReplyDeleteOk this cake is one AMAZING cake!!! I can't get over how fabulous this is! Your son is going to LOVE this!!! Happy Mother's Day to you and thank you so much for joining in on the blog hop celebration with me!! XOXO, Julie. :0)
ReplyDeleteYou Clever girl, you! This is just the prettiest cake I've ever seen. Love the idea of the vellum whipped cream, and the flavor of the cake. The scallops on the pieces look like dripping icing. Very nice way you've added all the sentiments, and my goodness, even sprinkles. Love the candle on top too, and you even decorated it! I think this is one of the best projects I've seen you make (well, it's food, so you might know that!). Have a good time at the party. I know the guests will love the cake! Especially the birthday boy. TFS & Hugs
