Hello my crafty friends, I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! It was a good one here in Central PA. Saturday was warm but very, very windy. I thought the house was going to blow away a few times. lol Hubby and I took a 4 wheeler ride after he was done working on the corn planter. It was so windy that the wind took hubby's breath a few times. I was on the back hanging on so I was good because I was behind him. Sunday was gorgeous, not as warm but simply beautiful. So hubby suggested going for a ride up in the orchards. It was a beautiful ride and we saw some of the orchard trees in bloom. Not sure if it was pear or peach trees, but they were lovely. Saw some apple blossoms too, but not many. Now we are in for a rainy week. Today hubby has a treatment, but not chemo. This new treatment is only 1 1/2 hours, not 5 hours like chemo. It cuts the blood supply off to the cancer cells and tumor somehow, so he will be doing that every 3rd week. He will start chemo pills next week-4 pills at breakfast and 4 at supper for 2 weeks. Then the 3rd week he goes for that treatment. So I think this will be a little easier on him-more normal if you will. Doc will then do another CAT scan later then after hubby does this treatment for a while. So he is getting there!
Ok on to the project at hand. Our very talented and sweet design team sister, Diana, has given us the challenge of "cake". Well that is easy enough! Who doesn't love cake? Cupcakes, layered cakes, sponge cakes, crumb cakes-well see my family could eat cake all the time, as long as it didn't have icing in it for my youngest. He is so like me when I was young. lol Other than that, he is completely like his dad! I can always use birthday cards in my stash, so I made a birthday card. I used the Artiste cartridge for my cupcake and last weeks Mojo Monday sketch. Everything goes together so well when I have a sketch. lol I used a die cut for my border going across the middle, my cream square is a piece that came out the middle of another die cut, so I used it for my sentiment. My cupcake "cherry" is a regular size pony bead that I melted to make my own homemade enamel dots as are the tiny pink and blue ones-those are 5 mm sized pony beads, melted. My sentiments came from a Cardz TV stamp set. My papers came from a Hobby Lobby 4 x 6 stack, I just love the fun designs and colors in this stack! So lets see your "cake" projects! Link up with BBTB2 but please remember this is a Cricut challenge, so you must use your Cricut for the challenge themed cut. I'm looking forward to seeing your wonderful projects! As always thanks for stopping by today. I love your sweet comments, you always make me smile! Crafty hugs, Brenda

I'm sitting here, smiling with delight, at the image of you and your husband 4-wheeling through your lovely orchards. Oh, to see the beauty of your trees with their blossoms, and inhale the wonderful scent...sighhh. Excellent news about your husband's treatments; both of you are in my thoughts and prayers (coming your way on angel's wings!). Now your card: yummy, deliciously delightful! The cupcake is such fun, and the papers and embellies are the perfect partners for this little number! I may have to bake when I get home!! Hugs to you, sweet friend!! ~c

How did I miss this one? Love all these splashy papers that you've used to create this festive card. That paisley is so perfect - combining the other colors & could have been hard to use (for me anyway! And I love paisley). It works great as borders with that patterned turquoise. Love this cute cupcake too, with the pink cherry on top. Liked the way you did the pink icing with the peek of chocklit between the icing and the liner. Great way of combining these colors & patterns. Also liked the way you've used the paisley again inside. This one rocks! TFS & Hugs MM
ReplyDeleteGood news on your husband. Enjoy every moment. Cute card, I like the saying

ReplyDeleteBrenda your ride through the orchards sounded to lovely! I know here in Orange County when the orange trees are in bloom it has a wonderful fragrance! We don't have many of the trees left though to much building going on! Love you card the paper compliment each other perfectly so cute!
