Valentines/Galentine Cards

Hello crafty friends, I hope you are all doing well. It's been a little crazy around here. Worked on helping Bret with his home: cleaning and the guys moved furniture. Went back on a Sunday and clean the most disgusting, filthy fridge I'd ever seen in my life and did some touch up painting in his living room. It is a cute little house and perfect for Bret and his dogs. So will share some photo's at the end. Then he came for his dogs that Monday after I was there on Sunday. By that Friday, he was home with Covid....again! Infected from a co-worker-the guy he is buying the house from. He didn't have any groceries, so guess who got a phone call? Yep, me, so off I go to get everything he needs, plus his monitors so he can work from home that were still here, a big box of stuff from here of his and to Sam's for a Air fryer/toaster/grill/convention oven like mine. Get to his house and unload everything on his front porch for him to get and off I go. The dogs went nuts at the storm door, lol, they wanted to come see Grandma but couldn't. Then Saturday, I get another call-he needed a couple more things....off I go again. lol Placing everything on the front porch. Finally, he went back to work last Wednesday and then Thursday brought the dogs to me to watch as he had a work weekend thing in another county. Just got the pups this evening, but they will be coming back on Sunday as he is doing a job fair at the college he went to. They are looking to hire, so.....I'm grandpup sitting again. So Savannah and I haven't really had much time to get into much of a routine yet. Or to get much done.

Like overseas, we had very high winds and a storm come through. I can't believe we didn't lose electric....I was one of the lucky ones in my county, but many did in my county lost their electric, including Bret only he wasn't home, he is also in a different county than me now. The dogs and I couldn't even sleep as it sounded like the house was going to blow away. For 3 days we had high winds, I'm surprised the pool survived...but the cover was high in the air! Glad that is done, but winds are to come back at the end of the week, hopefully not as bad this time! It is always windy here at my house, I'm in open fields where the wind blows all the time!

So not much crafty time going on here, but I did manage a few Valentines/Galentines. So will share these with you all. I did a print and cut for the images/rectangles/sentiment. So no stamping. This was the quickest way for me to get this done in my limited time frame. I thought they still were cute even though they were very simple. The last two are for the grands.

And now some photos of Bret's home. And a thank you for sticking with me this long!

The other owners still have junk to get, in the garage and outside of the home. I think they did come and get some recently though but not everything. So all the stuff on the porch is theirs.

After painting the fireplace and the walls, the fireplace was a yellowish tan and the walls were a dirty white. The walls are now a light gray and it looks very nice and as you can see the fireplace is a dark gray. He is sticking with a blue, gray, white color combo in the whole house. He is going to do the floors at some point, with the floors like he did for me, only in gray.

Another view of the living area, with a peek into the kitchen

Relaxing on his new couch, outside that window is a huge deck, so that will be nice this summer!

The bar chairs he got for the bar area, as this is where he will be eating....or in the living room at his coffee table that lifts up. But I think, mostly from here.

So that is a little sneak peek into Bret's new to him home. It is about 8 to 10 years older than my home, only it is brick with a metal roof and he has a much newer furnace. It's a solid home and I think he will  have many good memories there.

Thank you for sticking with me for this long post, I also want to say thank you for always coming back to visit with me a spell as I know I'm sporadic at posting. Your comments always bring sunshine to my soul and I thank you for them. I know I get behind with commenting, but I am trying to stay up as well as I can at the moment. Know that I might not comment on each post, but I am checking in. One day I will get back to a more normal schedule and things should settle down. I hope....

Crafty hugs,

  1. You HAVE been busy lately, Brenda! Bret’s new home looks lovely, thanks for sharing the photos. Hope he didn’t suffer too badly with Covid. It was announced yesterday that all Covid restrictions are being lifted in the UK this Thursday. It seems a bit soon, as a lot of people are still catching it. Your cards are beautiful, such a lovely selection. xx

  3. Bret seems to have found the perfect little house to live in! I like the color scheme in the LR with that great fireplace to keep warm on those chilly nights! You were an absolutely HUGE help in getting him settled in, especially when he got Covid again. I'm happy for him, happy for you and glad that you were able to help him in spite of so many obstacles! As for the cards, they're all totally cute and I'm especially fond of one in particular *wink wink*. We didn't get the high winds you had, but we did have one very windy night not that long ago. The rain was coming down so hard in those high winds that it woke me from a sound sleep - sounding like massive stones pummeling the house for a couple hours! I'm ready for spring now :) Catch your breath, have a good week ahead and thanks for sharing the pictures. I wish much happiness to both you and Bret as you both face new living challenges! Hugs!

  4. I'm hoping this means you are still A-Okay? Glad Bret is back to healthy, and work. His house is darling - and he's making some great color choices!
Your Valentines are adorable, Brenda - you amaze me with those digis!
We have had all that wind, too - it must have just swept across the country and over the Big Pond to Mac's house, right? Here it is 2-22-22 and it's raining cats and dogs today!
Thanks for checking in, Brenda - always a pleasure!

  5. I love the Valentines and so quick to do. The Elmo is the cutest with the heart balloons. I love the cupcake card that I received, it is yummy looking. We've had those kind of winds too and today it is pouring and has all night. Bret's house looks perfect for him. I love those blue cabinets in the kitchen. The blue, gray white theme is a nice one for a guy.

  6. Hi Brenda,
oh what a very super cards and I think your designs are wonderful and so colourful too.
You made quite a few as well considering all you have been up to helping Bret move house and decorate.
    Plus puppy sitting also.
So sorry Bret caught Covid yet again.
My 14 year old Granddaughter has had it twice also.
Love the photos of Bret's house it looks very lovely and your painting of the fireplace and walls looks brilliant.
Grey is a wonderful colour for a young man living on his own.
Grey seems to be fave with the younger generation as my Son's house is all different shades of grey also and he is 52 this year.
So glad you didn't sustain any damage with these storms, you sound very open a bit like me.
I have a fishing lake behind my bungalow and the bungalow is staggered so the wind whips around and into the corners between the next bungalow.
I thought at one point on Sunday night we were going to have a power cut as the lights kept flickering, and it did go off for a very short time as I had to reset my cooker clock and my printer started making a noise when it came back on which made me jump.
Lots of crafty love and hugs from my house to yours. Jenny L.

  7. You call these cards simple- NOT! Most of us don't have the Cricut nor could we do what you did here. These are SO creative. My favorite is the red truck- perfect for a guy card or young boy. Interesting post too. I enjoyed reading it!

  8. Good to see you back with not only wonderful and beautiful cards Brenda, but a wonderful story, even if some of it was not wanted, how can people leave a state in the house for other people to clean up AND have the cheek to come back for stuff they left behind! OH! well, none so strange as folk. Please wish Bret many happy hours and years in his new home. Love the kitchen cabinet colour, everything looks so comfy cozy.
    Hugs

  11. Simplicity in cards is often the best. These cards are really special in every way. They say "you are special" to whomever receives them. Bret has a nice home. I think he will have good memories here. It looks like it is in a nice area as well.

    Love, Hugs and Blessings,
    Jim

  12. Thanks for the update with Bret, so sorry he had Covid 'again' but glad he has found this wonderful home. The grey, blue and white is a lovely fresh colour combination and I wish him many happy memories living there x.
You've been really busy helping out, good on you. So glad you didn't loose electric with those very high winds Brenda. We had them too and to be honest they can be quite frightening, as you think the roof is going to come off!
Your cards are super adorable and the last two are extra cute x.
Thank you for finding time to dip into my blog, which I really do appreciate and you are always so generous and friendly x. Stay safe with those winds Brenda x.

  13. Oh what we do for our 'kids' - and shhh, but we never do stop 'doing' for them when requested...
Bret's home looks to be a lovely one, and he has good taste in his colour scheme.
Your cards are gorgeous - and don't apologise for not stamping on them - they are cards, and lovely ones at that - that's all we want to see. no judgement on how they are made.
    Stay safe
    Blessings

  15. What a fabulous collection of cards, Brenda and you are such a whiz with your Cricut! We bought my daughter one recently for a big birthday and I was showing her some of your past Cricut creations to inspire her. Glad you are okay after the storms. We survived the ones in England without much damage but the can be quite scary when you're going through it. Glad to hear Bret has recovered well and is settling into his new home.
    Take care,
    Hugs
