Chilly Celebrations!

Hello my crafty friends, it is time for another cut it challenge at My Paper Crafting.  We were asked to use the theme "chilly celebrations" and since my anniversary is in February so I went with a card that will do double duty, an anniversary/Valentine card for my hubby.  I used Melin's digital stamp, Love Is...1 Corinthians 13, I printed and then cut out my sentiment with a Spellbinder Nestability then while my sentiment was still in the Nestie, I sponged around the edge with Antique Linen distress ink and a little Tattered Rose distress ink, then cut another mat with a  Spellbinder and mounted the sentiment ontop. I popped both layers on foam tape. My roses came from the Cricut CTMH Artiste cartridge. I cut them on white paper at 3" and 2"and inked them with.  Punched some black paper with my Martha Steward branch punch and placed under my roses. I also used a die to cut my scallop border.  I used a white Viva Pearl Pen to make two smaller pearls and one large pearl and some stickles on my roses.  My ribbon is seam binding.  My card size is 5x7 and I used a Mojo sketch number 276. All papers are from my scrap bin except for my card base. I hope you join us this week for our "chilly celebrations" and if you need a little inspiration go to My Paper Crafting and check out the super "chilly celebrations" projects my design team sisters have done and don't forget to leave them some bloggy love! Happy Craftin'!!

Frosty the Snowman! BBTB2 Challenge

Hello crafty friends, today at BBTB2 we all chose Frosty the Snowman for our challenge theme.  Well I had the perfect picture in mind for this challenge!  So off to my scrap room I went.  I pulled out my Cricut Image cartridges Snow Angel and Santa's Village and proceeded from there.  All my papers were printed using the Snow Angel cart and my cute "Frosty" was printed and cut using the Santa's Village cart.  I used a sketch that I saved from someone, sorry don't remember where-I just save them to my computer and then go through them when I need inspiration.  So here is the layout and the sketch.  Hope you like my "frosty" layout featuring my grand-daughter Claire and her daddy.  Thanks for looking everyone!  Keep warm and let the days that are getting long keep you smiling as before we know it spring will be here!! I for one can't wait! lol

I cut my snowman out in layers and popped them up.  Here's a view from the side:

Ok it's your turn my crafty friends!  So go BBTB2 and see what inspiration the design team has for you and then make a "frosty the snowman" project of your own and link up with us.  Just remember that this is a Cricut challenge so please use your Cricuts.  Have fun!!

Winter Fun-My Paper Crafting Challenge!

Hello my crafty friends, I'm so sorry my post is up late today.  I'm not having the best week here. My Lupus is active in my brain, and thus affecting how I think-which I'm not thinking very well at all. Yesterday was my worst day and thus is why my post wasn't up for this morning right away.  Soooo on to our challenge for today with My Paper Crafting!!  I used my Cricut for my card base using the Art Philosophy cartridge and then using Melin's adorable digital stamp called Penguin Wipe Out that I colored with my Spectrum Noir markers.I also used a SU framelit die to cut out my shape for my digi. I kept this card pretty simple not really doing much to it at all but think it is so cute.  This penquin makes for a cute get well card if someone you know had a "winter" fun accident, like skiing and broke something.  It would surely put a smile on their face! Come along and play with us in this challenge of making a project using winter sports fun as the challenge.  We love seeing your Cricut projects as I find that I get a lot of inspiration from you all as well.  Now do you need some inspiration?? Well look no further than my design team sisters over at My Paper Crafting, they have some awesome projects for you to see, and while you are there-leave them some bloggy love!!  Stay warm where ever you are!!

BBTB2 Fontastic!

Hi my crafty friends! Well here it is Monday once again and of course you know that mean it is time for a brand new challenge over at BBTB2! My sweet and talented friend Suzanne has picked our challenge and she has chosen for us to use our favorite font. I hate to say this but that was hard!! I love pretty much all the Cricut fonts.  But I did manage to narrow it down a bit, although I wouldn't call this my favorite font, if it is a font at all. lol But for my project this was the perfect font and thus made it my favorite font for right now.  My project is a work in progress and has a little way to go before being complete.  My anniversary will be coming up soon and I wanted to do a little mini for my 20th year.  So I constructed my mini (saw this on My Sisters Scraper's blog and boy is she talented!!) and bound it with my Cinch. I used kraft cardstock for my pages distressed with Tim Holtz Walnut Ink distress ink. Attached a Tim Holtz key on the binding, I will be adding crinkle ribbon as well as soon as I get my colors dyed to match my mini. I also plan to add more charms with the key as I pick them up.  I just didn't want to settle for whatever, I wanted charms that fit the celebration and our life.  I used the Cricut cartridge Tie the Knott for the word TRUE LOVE.  It is already welded on the cartridge so all I had to do was size it in my Gypsy and cut it out.  My papers I used is a 6x6 My Minds Eye paper pack and I use Prima pearls on my cover. Not sure yet if I will make and place 3D flowers on my cover yet or not. Still thinking on that one.  I stamped "20 Year" in the cream mat with My Creative Time stamps and the "journey" was already on the paper along with the mat. I did end up spritzing my cover with Glimmer Mist in Old Lace, that made it really shimmer and looks so pretty.  I didn't take a picture of it as it is hard to get Glimmer Mist to show in the pictures.

Close up of my "True Love", I cut it out in paper that was very close in color with my cover because I wanted it seen but wanted it to look subdued. I added glossy accents on top.

This page is the inside of the cover and first page.  As you can see in the "v", there is a tag. I added some crinkle ribbon that I dyed.  I plan to go back and add eyelets to my tags as I didn't have any, so looks like a crafty run is in order. lol

Here you can see my first page (and all pages) flip out giving me to more larger mats for pictures, journaling or mementos.

Here is the back side of page one, flipped out and the start of the second page, which will flip out just like the first one. Each "v" pocket has a tag in them.  The smaller pockets are 4 1/2" wide x 4 3/4" tall and the larger pocket holds a tag that is 4 1/2" wide x 5 1/2" tall. So plenty of room for pictures and journaling spots.

Here the flip out is closed and this is the back of page 1 and the front of page 2. The rest of the mini looks like this but with just different patterns of paper. Dear husband is taking me to a Bed and Breakfast for our anniversary so I plan on getting many pictures to add to this mini as well as pictures from the last 20 years. I think it will be a great keepsake! So how do you like my little mini???  Want to know how to make one like this??? Well wonder no more, click here to go to Ginger's tutorial  on how to make these pages. Then you can bind your album anyway you chose.  I wanted to bind mine with the "stack the deck" by Laura from Following the Paper Trail but I didn't have 6 pages, only 5 and you need an even number to do it that way.  I was going to pick up more kraft paper but wouldn't you know the last pack was open and spilling out every where at Hobby Lobby.  So I just used my Cinch to bind my mini.

Well I think that is about it!  I hope you stuck it out with me and will go over to BBTB2 to see what awesome inspiration my design team sisters have for you as well.  Then please join us by using your Cricut and picking out your favorite font!  Link your project up with us and maybe you will win our blinky to add to your blog!  Happy Craftin'!!!

Look at what my son made me!

Hi my crafty friends, hope you are warm where you are at because it is cold here! lol I am changing gears here today for a minute so instead of crafty papers projects I'm going to share a wood crafty project my youngest made for us.  I just had to share!  He got third place on it at school. I think he did a fabulous job and will be glad to have my table back that the tv sits on now.

This is my table that the tv sits on right now:

And here is the cabinet that my son made:

He made "behind the door" storage for DVD's and whatnot:

It is made of oak and it is heavy!!! And the top of the cabinet:

Wasn't that sweet of him to do?!  My other 5 boys made beautiful furniture too but they never made us anything, which I was ok with because I wanted them to have their own furniture. My youngest and son #4 has made me some craft room things though. But our 6th child wanted to make us a tv stand since he has know I've wanted one for quite a while now.  He had already make himself a tv stand for his room which he got Honorable Mention on. Now he doesn't know what he wants to build next. lol  I think this was so sweet of him to do.  Thanks for looking my crafty friends, have a wonderful weekend!! And stay warm where ever you may be!!  Crafty hugs!

Bundle Up Baby!

Hi my crafty friends, today is a new Cricut challenge at My Paper Crafting and our challenge is "bundle up baby", we are to use hats, gloves, anything that you use to bundle up with.  So I used the digi stamp from Melin called Snowman Snow Luv and the Cricut cartridges Winter Woodland and Jolly Holidays.  My card base is called a Double Dutch Card which is so fun to make!  I cut my digi out with a Spellbinder and mounted him on another Spellbinder.  I colored my digi with my Spectrum Noir markers, added a little Star Dust Stickles and some glossy accents, and some confetti snowflakes and called it done. Then I sized my Cricut cuts in my Gypsy and cut them out, placed them on my card. I think it turned out to stinkin' cute! If you'd like to know how to make a Double Dutch Card just do a search in YouTube for a "Double Dutch Card".  If you love my little digi click here to check out more awesome and cute digi's of every kind! For some more inspiration please go check out my design team sisters and leave them some  bloggy love!  Thanks for looking my crafty friends!

A Little Birdie told me it is BBTB2 Day!

Hello my crafty friends, hope you had a wonderful weekend! Well it is Monday and you know what that means, yep it's time for another BBTB2 challenge!  Our dear sweet Jayne gave us the theme of a bird and branch.  Well this shouldn't have been a hard challenge but for some reason I just couldn't get my cards to turn out the way I envisioned them in my head. lol  I started out with making a card from the Imagine More cartridge and my Imagine.  I printed all papers except my card base for this card.  I layered my bird and branch.

Well this card didn't thrill me so back to the drawing board I went. Next I decided to do a window card from Winter Woodland.  I get my card all cut out and embossed my piece of clam shell from a cartridge and attached it to my card. So far so good.  Then I get the bright idea of putting snow writer on my branch.  Yep, you guessed it-I had to heat the snow writer and I knew that was going to melt my piece of plastic.  So after ruining the whole card, I tried again.  This time I got the snow writer on and heated before I put the embossed plastic behind the branch. lol This card isn't exactly as it was in my head, but I wasn't going back to the drawing board for a third time! lol So I stuck with this one. I colored my gems with a Spectrum Noir pen and my sentiment came from My Pink Stamper.  And without further ado here is my card.

This picture shows the embossing nicely.

The inside of my card.

And there you have it.  Not much better the second time around. lol I hope you will go give my design team sisters some love and then I hope you will join us and link up a card with a bird and branch on it made using your Cricut.  But please, please remember to use your Cricut. Every once in a while someone makes a lovely card but it doesn't qualify because they didn't use the Cricut for their cut.  I hate when that happens because I usually love their card and it makes me sad that it doesn't qualify. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with, it's gotta be better than mine! lol

Christmas Treats and Gifts

Hi my crafty friends!  I have a couple of things to show you from Christmas not that Christmas is over. lol  I made a tulle wreath for my one daughter-in-law for Christmas.  Since my son, her hubby is deploy here in the next week or two, I made her a red/white/blue wreath. I hung a red/white/blue ornament in the middle using the Artiste cartridge.  I was quite pleased with the way it turned out.  I had to take the pic quick and then I hung it on the tree. lol I couldn't find anything to put it in!  So I just hung it on the back of our tree!

The next little boxes I used the Artiste cartridge too.  In November when we went to Iowa we stopped at the Football Hall of Fame to take our youngest son.  While there of course he wanted to go to the gift shop.  While there I decided to do a little shopping for 3 of my guys and got them a gift card to shop the Hall of Fame on line.  I made the boxes to put their gift cards in. As you can imagine since we have 6 boys, they have different teams that they like.  Let's see, we have 3 Redskins fans, 1 Baltimore Ravens fan, and 2 Eagles fans.  So I decorated two of my boxes in the Redskins colors and one in the Ravens colors.  Using the Teddy Bear Parade cartridge I cut out the football Teddy Bear.  I think they are cute and yes, I used them for grown men and they actually like them and thought they were cool! How about that?! lol  I was so glad they didn't think I was treating them like a child. lol Are they not cute?!!

Hope you get your craft on in the new year!  Happy Crafting everyone!

First 2013 Post for BBTB2!

Hello all my crafty friends, I am excited as BBTB2 is back for 2013 and we have a new look over there!  Thanks to Tiffany at Tiffany Kuehl Designs who gave us our brand new look! I love it and I hope that you will love it too!!! You will also find more out about the design t
eam, so go check out our new look!!

Ok now onto today's challenge.  Our sweet Susan who is so talented and I love her for picking up BBTB2 and keeping it going, has issued our first challenge back to be about snowflakes!!  Now you have seen these tulle wreaths all over Pinterests and I've made a few of them.  This time I went with all white tulle and added snowflakes cut from my Cuttlebug and then in the center a 3D snowflake hangs and I cut it out of "When It's Cold Outside" Cricut cartridge.  Not much to it but think it is so cute and perfect for winter. I used glitter paper from a DCWV glitter stack in blue and silver.  Now it is your turn, make a project using any snowflake from any Cricut cartridge and upload it to BBTB2.  If you need a little inspiration please check out what my wonderful design team sisters have for you, I promise you won't be disappointed!!!  Just remember to follow our simple rules located on the right hand side of the blog.  Have a happy week everyone!

Exciting News and Cute Card!

Hello all my crafty friends, today I have some great news to share-well good news for me. lol I was asked to stay on the design team at My Paper Crafting!!!  What an honor to be asked to stay on after the 25 Days were up. There are such talented ladies on this design team, I hope I can do the challenges justice!  Today starts off the New Year with a challenge using snowflakes.  They were going to be for the Sandy Hook community, they were going to hang snowflakes to welcome the students back at another school, but because of the overwhelming response they closed this up. How wonderful that they got so many snowflakes from around the world/and country that they could close it!! So my snowflake became a card instead. I used the Snowman v12 DS digi from Melin at Paper Crafting World.com that I colored with my alcohol markers and mounted onto a die shape. I printed my papers on my Cricut Imagine using the Mr. Frosty cartridge. I so love the Imagine even though I don't use it a lot.  Stamped my sentiment and then did the same for the inside and used a die of a snowflake cut in half.  I put some glitter on the snowflakes in the digi as well as my snowflake inside.  That's about it.  Didn't it turn out cute?!  I'm pleased with it anyway. lol And don't you just love the papers from Mr. Frosty?!  Love, love that snowflake paper! Oh and I did distress with distress ink in tea dye on the inside.  I hope you check out what my design team sisters have in store for you as well with the snowflake challenge.  They have amazing projects!!
